Mission description
I. Job Summary To take overall responsibility for the success of assigned Programmes and/or Product Families to ensure that they achieve their stated business objectives, for the full product lifecycle To lead multi-functional teams, coordinate the activities of all staff who are supporting the assigned activities, fostering a team ethic and facilitating the cooperation of all participants II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. To be responsible for the successful management of programmes and activities, identifying and managing the risks, and taking the appropriate steps to achieve a successful outcome Clear & agreed objectives Risks identified, assessed, recorded and reviewed 2. To validate the sales proposal and technical estimates, to ensure that they are acceptable Ensure full understanding of proposals and estimates Raise questions of clarification and/or concern Prepare the Business Case in conjunction with the sales team Ensure proper sign off and documentation 3. To manage and oversee all the commercial and financial aspects of the programmes or projects; monitoring the sales and profit, and taking remedial action, if required Identify areas to reduce costs and improve the profitability of product Monitor sales and profit compared to original plan Highlight areas of concern 4. To establish an agreed Plan for the programme, and ensure that this is agreed with and communicated to the customer and key internal staff. Document Plan with clear milestones and timescales Collaborate and agree with all programme partners Ensure Plan is widely communicated and understood 5. To coordinate the activities of the key supporting functions and partners Ensure full support and appropriate resources from other functions Raise issues of concern with head of function Manage the relationship with and, where necessary, co-ordinate the work of all partners in the programme 6. To arrange and manage regular project/programme review meetings Organise & chair review meetings Ensure that all actions are agreed and recorded Ensure that actions are taken Manage any modifications to the project/programme 7. To communicate about the progress of the programme on a regular basis to the customer, internal stakeholders and Senior Managers, as required Regular reports to Programme Director & other Senior Managers Raise issues of concern in a timely manner 8. To ensure that a comprehensive and detailed contract is established for the programme or project with the support of internal Contract managers as required Discuss contractual requirements at an early stage in the project Ensure that an effective contract is in place Ensure regular review of the contract, taking the initiative to amend or update the contract if required 9. To work with the Sales Team, Sales Director and Product Managers in defining and bidding for new projects and maintaining market knowl
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred. Or equivalent experience. Proven experience in program or project management, preferably in the aviation or aerospace industry. Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques, such as Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively motivate and inspire cross-functional teams. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts clearly and concisely. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a results-oriented mindset. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project, JIRA, or Asana. Proficiency in spreadsheet data tools, such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
