Job summary

DAC Beachcroft seeks a claims handling/paralegal to join the Professional Negligence Team in Bristol. You'll handle Professional Negligence, Directors & Officers, and Employment Practices Liability claims, with supervision and development opportunities in a Tier 1 team renowned in the market.

You will support a busy firm with a proactive approach to dispute resolution, and benefit from flexible working options within a market-leading professional risks practice.

Qualifications

• Graduate calibre with an excellent academic record.
• Previous experience of working as a claims handler or similar within professional indemnity is useful but not essential.
• IT literate with working knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Able to work to deadlines, prioritise workload under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
• Proactive with initiative and able to collaborate across locations.
• Confident oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of lower value claims under supervision; develop knowledge of professional indemnity, employment practices liability and insurance law.
• Conduct the review of new cases.
• Draft correspondence to clients.
• Maintain ongoing contact with the insurer and insured professional throughout the process.
• Instruct experts and external counsel where appropriate.
• Complete administrative tasks.
• Handle confidential information in line with data security protocols.
