William James Recruitment is recruiting a Professional Indemnity Senior Associate for its London office. The role offers hybrid working and involves handling high-value PI disputes for insurer clients, with leadership responsibilities over junior lawyers and a focus on client relationships.

You will manage the full dispute lifecycle from pre‑action to resolution, including ADR, litigation and arbitration, while contributing to business development and delivering commercially-focused outcomes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years PQE in professional indemnity or related insurance litigation.
• Strong technical knowledge of complex disputes and litigation procedures.
• Excellent drafting and communication skills.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior colleagues.
• Proactive approach to business development and client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead on a varied caseload of complex, high-value and multi‑party professional indemnity disputes.
• Advise insurer clients on claims involving a broad range of professionals and sectors.
• Handle matters from pre‑action stage through to resolution, including ADR, litigation and arbitration.
• Advise on professional indemnity policy coverage issues and related disputes.
• Review evidence, assess liability and develop effective litigation strategies.
• Draft pleadings, detailed reports and other legal documentation, as well as instructing Counsel and experts where required.
• Supervise, mentor and support the development of junior team members.
• Support business development initiatives and strengthen relationships with new and existing clients.

Professional Indemnity Senior Associate - London - Hybrid - up to £120,000

A leading national law firm is seeking an ambitious Professional Indemnity Senior Associate to join its specialist team in London. This is an excellent opportunity to handle a broad range of complex professional indemnity claims on behalf of insurer clients, including high-value, multi-party disputes involving professionals across a variety of sectors.

As an Professional Indemnity Senior Associate in the London office, you will lead on a varied caseload of complex disputes while supervising and developing junior team members. The work will include defending claims against professionals such as engineers, architects, surveyors, solicitors, accountants, brokers and IFAs, alongside advising on professional indemnity policy coverage issues and disputes. You will also play an active role in business development, helping to strengthen existing client relationships and develop new opportunities.

The Role

• Leading on a varied caseload of complex, high-value and multi‑party professional indemnity disputes
• Advising insurer clients on claims involving a broad range of professionals and sectors
• Handling matters from the pre‑action stage through to resolution, including ADR, litigation and arbitration
• Advising on professional indemnity policy coverage issues and related disputes
• Reviewing evidence, assessing liability and developing effective litigation strategies
• Drafting pleadings, detailed reports and other legal documentation, as well as instructing Counsel and experts where required
• Supervising, mentoring and supporting the development of junior team members
• Supporting business development initiatives and strengthening relationships with new and existing clients
• Working collaboratively with Partners and colleagues to deliver excellent client service and commercially focused outcomes

The Candidate

• Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with 5+ Years PQE
• Proven experience handling professional indemnity, professional liability or related insurance litigation matters
• Strong technical knowledge of complex disputes and litigation procedures
• Excellent analytical, drafting and communication skills
• Experience managing a varied caseload of high‑value or complex claims
• Previous experience supervising, mentoring or supporting junior colleagues
• Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
• A proactive approach to business development and building lasting client relationships
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
