Job summary

Orion Group is recruiting a Production Technologist based in Aberdeen for a 6-month PAYE contractor role with a North Sea operator. The position supports delivery of Production Technology across an asset portfolio and involves tackling complex technical challenges in offshore fields.

You will manage IPSM models, lead gravel pack design and well testing programmes, provide sand control and well integrity support, and develop conceptual well designs for high‑pressure, deepwater environments.

Qualifications

• Experience in operational well integrity and well intervention.
• Front end well completion design including gravel packs and sand control.
• Strong Petex IPM Suite skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage IPSM model in coordination with asset & reservoir engineering teams.
• Lead design, testing, verification, and delivery of gravel packs with Well Engineering.
• Plan and execute well testing programmes; coordinate with vendor, subsurface & wells teams and write/optimise test instructions.
• Provide sand failure prediction analysis and sand control support to front-end development projects.
• Deliver conceptual well designs for exploration opportunities and support in a non-operated capacity.
• Provide integrated subsurface support to projects focusing on SURF interface (trees, controls, metering, flow assurance).
• Provide well integrity analyst activities in support of well integrity management and reporting.
• Deploy Production Technology activities in support of core and transitional scope.
• Provide Production Technology technical assurance as part of a team of assurers.

Job Description

Key to role:the asset portfolio comprises four fields alongside several exploration prospects. Development of these assets presents complex technical challenges requiring strong Petroleum Engineering and Production Technology expertise, including: ultra-long deepwater subsea tie-backs necessitating advanced Integrated Production System Modelling (IPSM), high-rate, low-temperature production systems impacting completion design, sand control requirements in poorly consolidated reservoirs, and well delivery in harsh deepwater environments with associated testing requirements.

• Managing the IPSM model in coordination with the asset and portfolio reservoir engineering teams.
• Leading the design, testing, verification, and delivery of gravel packs in collaboration with Well Engineering.
• Leading the planning and execution of well testing programmes; autonomously work with the vendor, subsurface & wells departments and assurers to write and optimise the well test work instructions.
• Providing sand failure prediction analysis and sand control support to front-end development projects.
• Delivering conceptual well designs for exploration opportunities, and supporting ina non-operated capacity.
• Providing integrated subsurface support to projects, with a focus on the SURF interface (including trees, controls, metering, and flow assurance).

Key to Role: Production Technology Discipline Activities including Well Integrity

• Provision of well integrity analyst activities in support of well integrity management and reporting.
• Deployment on Production Technology discipline activities in support of both core and transitional discipline scopes.
• For the right candidate, and as part of a team of assurers, provision of Production Technology technical assurance.

Additional Scope If/As Required: Wider Asset Support

• Willing (if required) to provide adhoc Production Technology project/operational support to Asset teams. This may include coverage of well production optimisation, well integrity and well intervention activities.

Skills, preferred candidate:

• Highly skilled in development well completion concept design (inflow and outflow) with a particular expertise in sand control selection and design (including gravel packing).
• Skilled in appraisal wells data acquisition and well testing.
• Skilled in operational well integrity.
• Skilled at ensuring lifetime well operability (including flow assurance and well integrity) is included in the conceptual well design and through each stage in project maturation.
• Highly skilled in Petex IPM Suite.
• Skilled in Microsoft 365 suite
• Able to work autonomously and integrates with ease across functions.
