Job summary

bp is seeking a Senior Sand Management Engineer to guide sand management challenges by integrating surveillance data, predictive modeling, and mitigation strategies. You will influence safe operating envelopes and sand management plans through technical assurance and best-practice recommendations.

The role involves developing global standards and leading capability-building across regions, collaborating with completions, flow assurance, and operations teams while driving AI/ML enabled sand

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in sand management, well integrity, and production optimization in oil & gas.
• Proficiency with surveillance data integration, predictive modeling, and sand control strategies.
• Ability to influence global standards and work across multi-discipline teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement, including external representation.
• Familiarity with advanced sand modeling tools and predictive analytics platforms.
• Experience in industry forums, technical committees, and joint ventures.
• Proven leadership in capability-building and technical assurance roles.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% globally.

• Collaborate with completions, interventions, flow assurance, erosion-corrosion, operations, and subsurface teams
• Integrate sand management practices across reservoir, well, facility, and export chokes
• Drive technology innovation and adoption, including digital tools and AI/ML applications
• Represent bp in partner discussions, joint ventures, and industry forums
• Document lessons learned, case studies, and best practices
• Deliver technical insight, surveillance and modeling integration, safe operating envelopes, and reliability improvements across bp’s global portfolio

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree or equivalent in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines
• Experience in sand management, well integrity, and production optimization within oil and gas operations
• Strong technical expertise in surveillance integration, predictive modeling, and sand control strategies
• Proven ability to influence global standards and collaborate across multi-discipline and multi-region teams
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including external representation
• Familiarity with advanced sand modeling tools and predictive analytics platforms
• Experience in industry forums, technical committees, and joint venture engagements
• Demonstrated leadership in capability-building and technical assurance roles
• Up to 10% global travel may be required
• Employment may be contingent upon local policy requirements, including pre-placement drug screening, medical review, and background checks
