Job summary

Teledyne Gas Measurement Instruments (Teledyne GMI) in Renfrew is seeking a Production Technician with experience in gas detection or portable electronics to service, calibrate and repair intrinsically safe instruments to defined standards.

You will test, calibrate and repair instruments, perform fault analysis and maintain servicing records. The role involves stock control, customer enquiries, and contributing to continuous improvement within the Service Centre.

Qualifications

  • ONC Electrical /Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in electronic repair/calibration of intrinsically safe equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools and perform hand soldering.
  • Capable of maintaining high quality standards.
  • Able to interpret process documents and schematics.
  • Good basic engineering knowledge.
  • Able to record work clearly and concisely.
  • Good fault finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Test, calibrate and repair a variety of instruments.
  • Carry out fault investigation and root cause analysis providing feedback to colleagues where required.
  • Maintain accurate records of instrument servicing and parts usage.
  • Ensure effective maintenance of workshop stock levels by timely ordering of replenishment.
  • Handle internal and customer enquiries by telephone or in person as appropriate.
  • Assist with continuous improvement projects within the Service Centre.
  • Work safely and comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy.
  • Undertake any other reasonable job/task as and when required.
  • Comply with company procedures at all times.

Job Description

At Teledyne Gas Measurement Instruments, we are on a lookout for a Production Technician with a background in gas detection or portable electronic instrumentation. The overall purpose of the role is to service, calibrate and repair intrinsically safe instruments to defined standards and timescales

What You'll Do:
  • Test, calibrate and repair a variety of instruments.

  • Carry out fault investigation and root cause analysis providing feedback to colleagues where required.

  • Maintain accurate records of instrument servicing and parts usage.

  • Ensure effective maintenance of workshop stock levels by timely ordering of replenishment.

  • Handle internal and customer enquiries by telephone or in person as appropriate.

  • Assist with continuous improvement projects within the Service Centre.

What We’re Looking For:
  • ONC Electrical /Electronic Engineering or equivalent.

  • Previous experience working within electronic repair/calibration of intrinsically safe equipment

  • Ability to competently use a range of hand tools and perform hand soldering.

  • Capable of working to consistently high quality standards.

  • Able to interpret process documents and technical schematics.

  • Good basic engineering knowledge.

  • Able to record work completed or proposed using clear and concise language and terminology.

  • Good, logical, fault finding and diagnostic skills.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
