Job summary

Osborne Appointments is recruiting a Manufacturing Team Leader in Hitchin. This hands-on leadership role will guide a team to meet production targets, uphold safety and 5S standards, and drive continuous improvement across the value stream.

Location: Hitchin. Hours: Mon-Thu 6am-3pm, Fri 6am-11am. Starting salary: £19ph. The role involves planning, directing work orders, and collaborating with Supply Chain to prevent shortages.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing or similar environment.
• Experience managing people or leading improvement activities.
• Good communication skills and the ability to motivate others.
• A practical, hands-on approach with a focus on results.
• Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a team to achieve daily production targets.
• Ensure work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures and 5S standards
• Plan and release work orders to meet demand.
• Monitor performance against the production plan and escalates issues where necessary
• Investigate problems, carry out root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
• Support daily SQDCG updates and track key performance indicators.
• Maintain accurate stock levels and support inventory control through audits and PI systems.
• Schedule raw materials using Kanban systems
• Work with Supply Chain to prevent shortages and delivery delays
• Support training and development of team members.
• Assist with absence management and disciplinary matters when required.
• Support engineering with prototype, refurbishment, and rework orders.
