Mitie Group is seeking a Production Support Engineer (Mechanical Maintenance) to join our manufacturing engineering function. You will work on maintenance, inspection, fault diagnostics, repairs, and improvements to ensure equipment reliability and availability for production.

You will perform planned and reactive tasks across a range of assets, while maintaining safety, quality, and compliance, and collaborating with experienced teammates to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, engineering, manufacturing, facilities management, or production support.
• Mechanical maintenance, inspection, repair, or fault-finding knowledge is desirable.
• City & Guilds Level 2 or equivalent vocational qualification is beneficial.
• Full UK Driving Licence is essential; FLT Licence is advantageous.

About the Role

As a Production Support Engineer, you will support the maintenance, repair, inspection, and improvement of production support equipment used throughout the manufacturing process.

The role combines planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance activities, helping to minimise downtime and support operational performance.

You will work across a range of specialist assets, including Chassis Carriers, Door Carriers, Roller Beds, C-Hangers, White Hangers, Paint Dollies, and fluid delivery systems.

Success in this role requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, customer service, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will undertake planned preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, fault diagnosis, repairs, and reactive maintenance activities across a range of production support assets.

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate maintenance records, updating company systems, identifying equipment defects, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety requirements, Safe Systems of Work, and Permit to Work procedures.

The role also requires effective communication with operational stakeholders, maintaining high housekeeping standards, and supporting equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the site.

What We Are Looking For

Previous experience within maintenance, engineering, manufacturing, facilities management, production support, or a similar environment would be advantageous. Mechanical maintenance, inspection, repair, or fault-finding knowledge is desirable but not essential.

We welcome applications from individuals who can demonstrate practical aptitude, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.

A City & Guilds Level 2 qualification, recognised apprenticeship, or equivalent vocational qualification would be beneficial, although candidates with relevant transferable skills and experience will also be considered.
