Job summary

Mirus Aircraft Seating is looking for a Production Supervisor to lead the day-to-day production team, drive lean daily management and ensure high quality outputs. You will coach staff, manage performance, and collaborate with the Operations Manager to meet production targets.

You will own the skills matrix, deliver training plans and foster a right-first-time culture while maintaining safety and efficiency across the production area.

About The Role

In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, management and development of the Production team, working closely with the Operations Manager to ensure the team has the direction, support, capability and resources required to deliver business and production objectives.

This is a great opportunity to take ownership of a production team, developing individuals and building a high-performing, engaged workforce. You will lead from the front, set clear expectations, provide coaching and guidance, manage performance and ensure the team works together effectively to deliver a safe, high-quality and efficient production operation.

Your Main Responsibilities

In your role as our Production Supervisor, you will:

• Lead, manage and develop the Production team on a day-to-day basis, providing clear direction, guidance and support to ensure individuals and the team understand what is expected of them.
• Lead a daily production stand-up meeting, setting out the priorities and tasks for the day, allocating resources and ensuring everyone is clear on their responsibilities, production requirements and key objectives.
• Take responsibility for the performance and development of team members, providing regular feedback, coaching and mentoring to help individuals reach their full potential.
• Take ownership of the quality of output from the production line, ensuring products are manufactured to the required quality standards and specifications. Monitor quality performance, identify issues and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken promptly.
• Own and maintain the department's skills matrix, ensuring the team's skills and competencies are accurately recorded and understood, and that appropriate training plans are in place to address skills gaps and support ongoing development.
• Set clear expectations around performance, behaviour, attendance, quality and productivity, addressing issues promptly and appropriately.
• Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance discussions and development conversations with team members, identifying training and development needs and supporting agreed development plans.
• Lead from the front, demonstrating strong leadership, accountability and the behaviours expected from the Production team.
• Motivate and engage the team to achieve production targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring everyone understands how their role contributes to the wider business objectives.
• Support the Operations Manager with workforce planning, resource requirements and the effective deployment of people across the production area.
• Manage and resolve day-to-day people and production issues effectively, escalating matters to the Operations Manager where appropriate.
• Support the implementation of lean principles and lean daily management within the production area, engaging the team in identifying and eliminating waste and improving processes.
• Lead and maintain visual factory methodologies including 5S, Day by Hours and R.A.G status, ensuring the team understands and maintains the required standards.
• Maintain the correct level of SQCDP performance across the production area, using performance information to engage the team and drive improvement.
• Support the introduction of new products and processes by ensuring the production team is prepared, trained and supported through changes.
• Ensure production activities are carried out in accordance with all relevant quality, procedural, health and safety requirements.
• Encourage a right-first-time culture within the team and ensure quality issues are identified, understood and addressed.
• Provide accurate and timely information to the Operations Manager regarding team performance, production performance, people matters, resource requirements and any risks or issues.
• Work collaboratively with other departments to resolve issues and ensure the Production team is effectively supported.

• Engineering biased HNC / HND or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrable experience in supervising or leading a demanding serial production manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrable experience of leading, coaching and developing people within a production or manufacturing environment.
• Experience of managing individual and team performance, including addressing performance and behavioural issues appropriately.
• Demonstrable experience working in a Lean environment and using lean tools and methodology.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues using structured problem-solving techniques.
• Understanding of production performance measures and KPI management.

Desirable

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
• IOSH - Managing safety or higher.
• Experience of working within an aerospace or automotive production environment.
