Job Opportunity: Production Shift Manager

We are supporting a leading food manufacturing business based in the North East of England with an opening for a Production Shift Manager.

The Production Shift Manager will be responsible for setting and driving operational standards across People, Product, Process, Plant, and Performance during all shifts.

On Offer:

• £47,000 - £48,000 base salary + overtime opportunities
• Working 4 days on, 4 days off (2 days / 2 nights)

Responsibilities:

• Manage a trained and motivated shift team with committed, multi-skilled, and flexible colleagues.
• Operate flexibly and respond quickly to change and opportunities, demonstrating the capacity to act swiftly and effectively.
• Ensure all roles are properly resourced and utilized to meet capacity and customer requirements.
• Maintain appropriate people mapping and planning to ensure shifts are neither over nor under-resourced with permanent or agency staff.
• Take ownership of all products on shift, ensuring compliance with company and customer specifications.
• Follow the daily plan, ensuring timely and complete delivery.
• Collect and analyze KPIs, sharing key insights and trends with direct reports.
• Achieve planned outputs and performance efficiencies in line with KPI standards.
• Ensure shift production meets throughput targets to fulfill customer service levels while maintaining product integrity.
• Set high GMP standards through visible leadership, including daily walk rounds with direct reports, line managers, and SLT, addressing issues and implementing solutions.

Experience Needed:

• Shift management experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Customer focus and understanding of different customer needs.
• Knowledge of technical and operational standards.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to provide clear direction.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Knowledge of GMP and HACCP standards.
