Job summary

Meridian Business Support Ltd is recruiting a Production Shift Leader to oversee a busy 80-strong team on a rotating 6-2/2-10 shift. You will drive performance, safety and quality, manage workload and overtime, and report against KPIs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The base salary is around £35k plus a 12.5% shift uplift and overtime, with progression opportunities.

Strong leadership and hands-on coaching are essential to develop staff and ensure on-time delivery to meet demand.

skills in a pro-active and hands on manner. The purpose of the role is to effectively manage a large manufacturing team and equipment resources to optimise production workflow, maximise employee performance and ensure consistent, on time delivery to meet forecasted customer demand.

The Role:You will effectively lead a team of 80 staff in a busy production environment, focussing on the management of people, workflow, performance, output, quality and health & safety.Build a strong team culture based on communication, collaboration, and engagement.Lead by example and provide guidance to your team, helping them develop their skills and reach their full potential.Meet production schedules, achieve key performance indicators (KPIs), and contribute to the overall success of the department.Analyse production processes, identify and resolve challenges, and make sound decisions under pressure.Develop and implement operational plans, manage resources efficiently, and oversee daily activities.Engage employees through daily meetings and provide insightful performance evaluations.Track production metrics, ensure KPIs are met, and continuously improve team practices.Track overtime weekly to control cost and optimize productivity. Ensure a fair approach when allocating overtime.Preferred Skills:You'll be a proven Manufacturing Manager / Production Manager used to managing upwards of 50 staff in a shift based position.Management of people, workflow, performance, output, quality and health & safety are all ESSENTIAL experiences which the successful candidate must possess.Strong written and verbal communication skillsProficient listener who actively engages stakeholders and articulates ideas and plans with clarityDemonstrates a keen sense of organisation, ensuring smooth workflows and efficient progressAbility to use analytical skills to identify production issues and implement effective solutionWorking Hours:6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm Monday to Friday alternative weeks, PLUS 6 hours overtime required either on Saturday (at time and a half) OR Sunday (double time). The role also offers a 12.5% uplift due to the shift allowance.

Associated Benefits:Basic salary in the region of £35000, plus 12.5% shift allowance and overtime. A range of benefits including company bonus and an excellent pension scheme and 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. Progression is encouraged, as is professional development.
