The Role

This role is part of our Saab Seaeye Business Unit in Fareham. The role provides Production Engineering support for the assembly and testing of remotely operated vehicle sub-systems and production processes. It also ensures that appropriate production processes, equipment, and facilities are in place to manufacture products safely, consistently, and to meet cost, time, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Attend SQCDP meetings and support a hands-on problem-solving approach with Area Team Leader and Quality Engineering to achieve OTD and right-first-time objectives.
2. Standardise processes and procedures to ensure consistency, minimise variation, and improve cross-department collaboration.
3. Own, document, and train others on manufacturing processes and standards.
4. Assess compliance and adherence to safety and quality standards.
5. Maintain manufacturing BOMs & Routings.
6. Manage NPI transfer into production; develop, optimise, and implement factory floor layout.
7. Provide technical support for production and production control.
8. Analyse data to drive continuous improvement of processes and workflows.

Skills and Experience

1. Multi-disciplined engineer with an electrical bias and experience in test, pre-commissioning, and fault finding.
2. Background in low-volume, one-off engineered products and systems; ideal for Production, Project, or Delivery Engineers.
3. Strong mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering knowledge, especially for complex assemblies like ROVs.
4. Technical problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve production issues.
5. Minimum qualifications: HNC/HND, Bachelor’s degree, or relevant experience in Electrical, Mechanical, Engineering, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
6. Hands-on production support experience in assembly, testing, and quality control.
7. Relevant certifications (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt) are a plus; familiarity with hydraulics is beneficial. Support and training are available for working with electrics, high voltages, and hydraulics.
