Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited seeks full-time Production/Project Planners to be based at Burghfield, Reading, delivering production planning across Manufacturing and Science demand. This contract runs to December 2027 and falls inside IR35; rates are £31.79ph umbrella or £23.41ph PAYE.

Responsibilities include maintaining MPS/production schedules, updating the MRP system, and applying lean planning methods such as Kanban and push/pull in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in production planning within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment.
• Engineering background (Precision Engineering/Mechanical or Manufacturing) with understanding of machining processes and shop floor operations.
• Experience managing material availability, supplier deliveries, purchase orders, and production schedules, with ability to reforecast plans in response to supply chain challenges.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across supply chain, operations, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and customer-facing functions.
• Good computer literacy and planning/reporting skills, with experience tracking production performance and delivering updates to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Detail plan methods of manufacture with regard to time, cost and quality.
• Update and ensure accuracy of local MRP system.
• Demonstrate and use Lean Planning techniques and Production Control processes (visual management, Kanban, Push/Pull).
• Proactively tackle blocks and barriers to progress.
• Respond to needs of internal and external customers.
• Attend Visual Management board meetings and coordinate actions.
• Liaise with Delivery Units for balanced, de-conflicted demands and plans.
• Support Basis of Estimate with production costs and schedules.
• Ensure plans align with Master Production Schedule and are loaded into MRP where used.
• Coordinate with technology centres to balance production demands and plans.
• Update and report on KPIs; drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate to build high-performing teams and a diverse environment.
