Role overview:

• Ensure machines operate at full capacity, troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns promptly. Work in shifts.

Responsibilities:

• Operate HDPE blow moulding and ancillary equipment, including packing tables, leak detectors, metal detectors, conveyor systems, and granulators.
• Maintain smooth production by identifying and correcting issues to meet volume and quality targets.
• Perform calculations to ensure weights and measures meet customer specifications.
• Adjust machines to correct production errors.
• Report problems accurately and complete necessary paperwork.
• Ensure machines run efficiently to optimize material use and minimize waste.
• Conduct visual and physical quality assessments to ensure products meet specifications.
• Perform preventative maintenance to maintain machine efficiency and quality.
• Carry out standard machine changes, including material feed, colour, gas, neck, and profile adjustments.
• Apply problem-solving techniques and process adjustments as needed.
• Work effectively as part of a team, mentoring packers.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping in compliance with food packaging industry standards.
• Follow safe working practices at all times.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on production efficiency, quality, and safety.

Education & Experience:

• Experience in engineering, fitting, or mechanical roles.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• At least 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (Grade C/5 or above).

Knowledge & Skills:

• Experience in a plastics manufacturing or similar fast-paced environment.
• Mechanical maintenance skills such as belt changes, pneumatic controls, changeovers, tool changes, and machine setup.
