Job summary

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting Production Operatives for Newport area. You will operate machinery, perform quality checks, load and unload the production line, and support with robot operation after full training.

Shifts include days, afternoons and nights with shift premiums. The role requires numeracy, basic GCSEs, and a practical, safety‑conscious approach. Training is provided, with a focus on 5S and good housekeeping to maintain efficient production.

Qualifications

• Experience with heavy industry products and hot metals is preferred.
• Numerate and literate; GCSEs in Maths and English desirable.
• Computer literacy; knowledge of Microsoft Office beneficial.
• Robotics familiarity is an advantage.
• Knowledge of FIFO is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate machinery to support production processes.
• Conduct visual quality checks on products.
• Load and unload items on the production line.
• Perform manual handling tasks.
• Operate robots manually when required with training.
• Run the Oxide Mill and assist with lead handling as trained.
• Follow Health & Safety guidelines.
• Maintain 5S and housekeeping in the area.

Newport | £12.85 per Hour + Shift Premiums | Days, Afternoons & Nights

Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is currently recruiting Production Operatives to work at one of our well-established clients in the Newport area.

What We Offer

• £12.85 per hour plus shift premiums.
• Day, afternoon and night shift patterns.
• Full training provided for operating robots manually.

Key Duties

• Operate machinery to assist in the production process.
• Conduct visual quality checks of all products.
• Load and unload products onto the production line.
• Undertake manual handling activities.
• Operate robots manually if any problems occur, with full training provided.
• Run the Oxide Mill, working with pure lead and heat torches.
• Abide by all Health & Safety guidelines.
• Ensure good housekeeping and 5S standards are maintained within the area of responsibility.

Requirements

• Previous experience with heavy industry products and hot metals.
• Numerate and literate, with GCSE passes in Mathematics and English Language desirable.
• PC literate, with knowledge of Microsoft beneficial.
• Robotic knowledge would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of the FIFO system is desirable.
• Enthusiastic with a responsible attitude.
• Common-sense approach with good interpersonal skills.
• Good attention to detail and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to work under pressure and achieve targets.
• Flexible approach to working hours.
• Must be able to wear an Airflow mask, as this is mandatory due to the nature of the work, and therefore must be clean shaven.
