Job description

Cranswick Gourmet Sausage is a fast-paced sausage facility located in Hull. Using only the best cuts of British pork, fresh herbs, and spices, Cranswick is the UK’s leading producer of gourmet sausages, supplying major retailers and foodservice outlets.

The ideal candidate for the Production Operative role should be flexible, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented. Their main responsibilities include carrying out various tasks to ensure smooth daily production operations and maintaining the safety, quality, and legality of the products, upholding high standards at all times.

Shift available: 4 on 4 off; nights; 18:00-06:00

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure all product specifications and quality standards are met.
  2. Uphold rules, regulations, and good practices regarding health and safety, food hygiene, quality standards, and personal hygiene.
  3. Produce high-quality products, focusing on increasing yield and reducing wastage, supporting Second Nature initiatives.
  4. Work collaboratively as part of a team to foster a positive working environment.
  5. Establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues.
  6. Demonstrate flexibility by performing a variety of production tasks and adapting to changing needs.
  7. Achieve set targets under the guidance of the Team Leader/Shift Manager; report any shortfalls promptly.
  8. Ensure compliance with company and customer requirements and assist during audits.
  9. Contribute to the site culture promoting food safety, H&S, ethical, environmental, and energy practices.
Experience / Knowledge:
  • Previous experience in the food industry as a Production Operative is required.
  • Reliable with good attendance and punctuality records.
  • Conscientious, enthusiastic, and deadline-oriented.
  • Team player and cooperative attitude.
  • Good knowledge of basic food hygiene and health & safety principles.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions with keen attention to detail.
  • Positive and helpful attitude towards completing tasks.
