Job summary

Galaxy Personnel is seeking a Production Operative in Hertfordshire to build crates and packing cases from timber and plywood. You will use power tools, drive a forklift when required, and contribute to loading and packing for shipping.

The role is full-time and permanent with training provided. A driving licence and forklift experience are preferred, and salaries start at £15 per hour, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience with timber and plywood manufacturing preferred.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical work.
• Overtime paid at busy times and full training on tools/equipment provided.

Responsibilities

• Build and produce crates, packing cases and pallets from timber/plywood.
• Operate power saws and nail guns.
• Use drills and other hand tools.
• Cut foam for crate inserts and prepare crates for shipments.
• On-site packing for customers and occasional local deliveries.
• Maintain high quality and health & safety standards.

Salary: £15ph depending on experience

Our client specialises in manufacturing made to measure wooden packing cases and arranging full export packing services to transport valuable goods across the world. They have major customers across all sectors including medical and scientific, aerospace, industrial and fine art. In business for more than 40 years

Key Responsibilities:

• Working with timber and plywood to build and produce crates, packing cases and pallets for our clients' products.
• Using power saws
• Nail guns
• Drills
• Other hand tools
• Cutting foam for crate inserts
• Forklift operation
• On-site packing for customers
• Local customer deliveries when required
• Working to high standards of quality and health & safety
• Physical and varied work (heavy lifting is involved)

Salary is according to skills and experience. Paid overtime is available at busy times.
