Job summary

Pertemps Reading is seeking a practical Production Operative to join a busy manufacturing team in Abingdon. You will assist in preparation, assembly and finishing of moulded components, maintaining safety and quality as you help meet production deadlines.

The role requires hands-on experience in manufacturing or workshop settings, the ability to use hand and power tools, and a keen eye for detail. A reliable, organised approach and willingness to train new staff are important.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing/production environment.
• 2+ years' relevant experience or Engineering BTEC with 1-2 years experience.
• Proficient with hand and power tools.
• Hands-on, practical approach to work.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Able to follow instructions accurately.
• Good organisational and prioritisation skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, assemble and finish moulded components to meet requirements.

• Support manufacture of sub-assemblies across production areas.

Production Operative

Location: Abingdon

Hours: 37.5 hours Per week Monday to Friday 07:00-15:00

We are looking for a practical and motivated Production Operative to join a busy manufacturing team, supporting the preparation, assembly and finishing of moulded components. You will play an important role in maintaining high-quality standards, meeting production deadlines and ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, assemble and finish moulded components in line with production requirements and quality standards.
• Assist with the preparation and bonding of moulded components.
• Carry out cutting, grinding and flow coating as part of the manufacturing process.
• Support the manufacture of sub-assemblies and assist across different areas of production as required.
• Use hand tools and workshop power tools safely and effectively.
• Inspect finished components to ensure quality, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Follow production schedules and instructions from the Team Leader to meet deadlines.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Follow all company health and safety procedures and quality guidelines.
• Support and assist in training new production team members when required.
• Undertake additional manufacturing duties as directed by management.

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in a manufacturing, production or workshop environment.
• Ideally, at least two years' relevant experience, or an Engineering BTEC qualification alongside 1-2 years' experience in a similar environment.
• Confident using conventional hand tools and workshop power tools.
• A practical, hands-on approach to work, with good problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions accurately.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
