Job summary

Pertemps Bond is recruiting a Production Manager for a specialist gas business in Uttoxeter. You will lead a small team of production chemists, plan production to meet customer needs, and ensure safety, quality and ISO 17034 compliance.

You will drive continuous improvement, liaise across departments and with suppliers, and help shape production strategy. The role is site-based and requires relocation or commuting to Uttoxeter.

Production Manager – Speciality Gases

Uttoxeter | Up to £50,000 DOE + 9% annual bonus + benefits

Are you a scientifically minded production professional with strong leadership skills and a commitment to safety and quality?

We’re recruiting a Production Manager for a specialist gas business in Uttoxeter. Leading a small team of production chemists, you’ll oversee the manufacture of high-quality gases and gas mixtures, ensuring customer requirements are delivered safely, accurately and on time.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll combine technical knowledge with practical people management, developing your team and improving production processes.

The role

• Lead, coach and develop a team of four production chemists, supporting performance, training and development.
• Plan production schedules and organise staffing, materials and equipment to meet customer requirements.
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality and efficiency across production.
• Work within an accredited quality system, including processes supporting ISO 17034.
• Oversee gas mixture safety checks, filling procedures and technical reviews, acting as a Flam/Ox approved signatory.
• Write, review and improve operating procedures and production processes.
• Liaise with colleagues across laboratory services, site services, logistics and sales on production priorities, mixture feasibility and compatibility.
• Work with suppliers to source suitable equipment and raw materials.
• Support continuous improvement and deliver departmental objectives.

About you

You’ll bring a degree in a science or engineering discipline, or significant experience within gas mixture production, alongside the ability to lead and develop a technical team.

We’re looking for:

• Good knowledge of gas quality measurement and the technical standards supporting it.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to balance changing priorities.
• A clear commitment to safe working practices and consistent quality.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across departments and with suppliers.
• A proactive, collaborative approach to solving problems and improving performance.

Experience of accredited gas production processes, ISO 17034 and Flam/Ox signatory responsibilities would be particularly valuable.

The package

• Salary up to £50,000, depending on experience.
