Job summary

Key Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Production Maintenance Team Leader for a 12-month fixed-term contract in Petersfield. The role oversees a team of maintenance technicians and electricians, driving uptime and continuous improvement while ensuring safe, compliant operations.

You will plan activities, drive PPMS, manage performance, and provide 24/7 engineering support for a fast-paced FMCG/manufacturing environment. Strong leadership and engineering skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have experience leading engineering or maintenance teams in FMCG/pharma/manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering knowledge.
• Experience with preventative maintenance programmes.
• Proven people management, coaching and development skills.
• Excellent communication, planning and organisational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of Production Maintenance Technicians and Electricians.
• Plan and prioritise engineering activities to maximise equipment uptime and minimise downtime.
• Drive Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes and equipment lifecycle management.
• Manage team performance, attendance, training and development through regular reviews and coaching.
• Provide responsive engineering support across a 24-hour manufacturing operation.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, reduce waste and deliver cost savings.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality and other support functions to resolve engineering issues and achieve site KPIs.
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with Health & Safety, GMP and regulatory requirements.
• Lead engineering improvement projects and act as a subject matter expert across the business.

My client is seeking an experienced Production Maintenance Team Leader with a strong engineering background covering mechanical and electrical engineering, and experience leading maintenance teams within a fast‑paced FMCG, pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.

In this role you will lead a team of Production Maintenance Technicians and Electricians, ensuring engineering support is delivered safely, efficiently and effectively while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

• Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualification.
• Previous experience leading engineering or maintenance teams within FMCG, pharmaceutical, cosmetics or a similar manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering knowledge.
• Experience managing preventative maintenance programmes and engineering resources.
• Proven people management skills, including performance management, coaching and team development.
• Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety, GMP and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Ability to make informed decisions in a fast‑paced production environment while maintaining high engineering standards.
