Babcock Devonport is seeking a Production Hub Lead to head a large team of technicians at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site in Plymouth. You will drive engineering tasks across submarine classes, shape future capabilities, and enhance operational performance while supporting national defence objectives.

You will lead resource coordination, develop the workforce, and push improvements in quality, productivity and cost, within a regulated environment. This role is on site at Devonport.

The role

As a Production Hub Lead, you'll can play your part in leading a large team of specialist technician's at Babcock's Devonport facility, in Plymouth, Devon. Drawing on your leadership and engineering expertise, you will help shape the future of the UK's submarine programme while developing a new capability that will have a lasting impact on operational performance and efficiency.

Day-to-day, you'll play a key role in supporting submarine deep maintenance by bringing pipe and reactor technician resources together into a central production hub delivering engineering tasks across the decommissioned, current and future Submarine classes. This is an exciting opportunity to establish and develop your own team, drive innovation, improve productivity, and influence how critical engineering work is delivered across the business. Your leadership will directly contribute to national defence capabilities while creating opportunities for your own professional growth and development.

• Leading the daily operation of the production hub to ensure skilled resources are deployed effectively to support programme delivery.
• Chairing planning and look-ahead meetings with stakeholders to establish priorities and maintain delivery schedules.
• Collaborating with production and capability teams to develop workforce competence, skills and succession planning.
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, productivity, efficiency and cost performance.
• Building strong relationships with project teams and production managers, providing regular updates and managing resource priorities.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience for the Reactor Production Hub Lead:

• Experience leading or managing teams with varying levels of technical experience.
• Experience within a mechanical or electrical engineering, manufacturing, production or maintenance environment. Preferably within the Defence or Commercial Marine field.
• Proven ability to coordinate resources and prioritise work to meet operational objectives.
• Experience of operating in a highly regulated environment
• Experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across a complex organisation.
• Demonstrable success in driving performance improvement and developing people.

Qualifications for the Production Hub Lead:

• HNC qualification or equivalent technical qualification.
• Additional leadership, management or engineering qualifications.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
