Job summary

Kerry Coleraine in Coleraine, UK, is looking for a Production Group Leader to join our team on 12-hour day/night rotating shifts. This full-time, permanent role involves leading a large team, driving safety, quality and on-time delivery in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

You will use lean techniques, manage performance, coordinate with other functions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of leading large teams in a high-volume environment.
  • Experience in driving performance and setting clear objectives.
  • Strong safety and quality focus with proactive problem solving.
  • Familiarity with SAP, MS Office, and lean processes.
  • Able to coach, appraise and develop staff.
  • Excellent communication and change management skills.

  • Leading, managing and motivating the team, promoting collaboration and a positive working environment.
  • Promoting a Safety First, Quality Always approach and supporting a high-performance culture with continuous improvement.
  • Providing clear direction and handling people management activities including timekeeping, appraisals and coaching.
  • Monitoring and achieving KPIs, ensuring safety, quality and audit standards are met.
  • Coordinating with other functions to resolve production planning and process issues to meet orders on time and to cost/quality targets.
  • Applying lean manufacturing techniques to support continuous improvement and exceed targets for productivity and quality.
  • Reporting plant or machinery breakdowns with maintenance for resolution.
  • Ensuring internal delivery processes are followed to support dispatch windows.
  • Leading follow-up and lessons learned to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

About the role

We have the opportunity for Production Group Leader to join our Kerry Team in Coleraine, Co. Londonderry.

This is a full-time, permanent position on 12-hour shifts, alternating between day and night shifts.

Where will you work?

In Kerry Coleraine we produce variety of flavoured syrups and sauces.

What will you do?
  • Leading, managing and motivating the team, promoting a collaborative and positive working environment.
  • Promoting a ‘Safety First, Quality Always’ approach and supporting a high-performance culture where continuous improvement is embraced.
  • Providing clear direction and taking responsibility for people management activities, including timekeeping, one-to-ones, appraisals, coaching, absence management and performance or non-conformity matters.
  • Monitoring and achieving key performance indicators, ensuring safety, quality and audit standards are consistently maintained.
  • Communicating and coordinating effectively with other functions to resolve issues relating to production planning, processes, procedures or equipment, ensuring customer orders are delivered on time and to quality and cost requirements.
  • Using lean manufacturing techniques to support continuous improvement and helping exceed company targets for productivity, efficiency and quality.
  • Reporting and responding to plant or machinery breakdowns in collaboration with maintenance technicians.
  • Ensuring internal delivery processes are followed to support dispatch time windows.
  • Leading the follow-up and lessons learned process when customer concerns are raised, identifying root causes, implementing effective countermeasures and sustaining corrective actions to prevent repeat issues.
What do you need to be successful?
  • Proven track record of leading and motivating large teams to succeed by utilising appropriate management styles, leading by example, setting objectives and defining responsibilities to give a clear sense of direction and purpose.
  • Passionate about managing performance, leading and developing people.
  • Significant experience within a high-volume, high pace manufacturing environment, preferably food manufacturing.
  • Strong IT Systems and methodology experience (SAP, MS Office packages, Lean Processes, Continuous Improvement etc.)
  • Highly organised and analytical with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving
  • Experience and knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and ideally, food safety standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and open to change.
