Job Title: Production Engineer – Non Destructive Testing

Location: Plymouth, Devon

Compensation: £43,935 + Benefits

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world. Join us as a Production Engineer – Non Destructive Testing at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site.

The role

This dynamic, multi-project role offers opportunities in Research and Development (R&D), driving innovation and technical advancements.

Responsibilities include managing equipment and processes, conducting peer reviews, training in advanced techniques, supporting engineers, and overseeing multiple projects.

1. Lead NDT R&D projects and trials, driving testing methodology innovations.
2. Integrate new NDT technologies to enhance capabilities.
3. Analyze statistical data to improve R&D outcomes.
4. Prepare reports, literature reviews, and funding proposals.
5. Support large-scale HSR scopes at Devonport and Clyde, and international projects.

This is a full-time role (35 hours/week), primarily on-site at Devonport, with opportunities for off-site projects in Clyde, Rosyth, and internationally.

Essential Experience

1. Experience with complex geometry joint configurations.
2. Proactive in research and technological innovation.
3. Strong knowledge of ultrasonic NDT technologies.
4. Skilled in report writing, literature reviews, and proposal presentations.
5. Expertise in statistical data evaluation and relevant software.

Qualifications

1. Multiple PCN 2 Level II qualifications, especially in Ultrasonics.
2. Preferably a National Skill Level 5 or higher qualification in engineering (e.g., degree, HND, BEng/BSc, MEng/MSc).

Security Clearance

The candidate must be a sole UK national eligible for Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance.
