Job Title: Production Engineer – Non Destructive Testing

The role
As a Production Engineer – Non Destructive Testing, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This dynamic, multi-project role offers exciting opportunities in Research and Development (R&D), driving innovation and technical advancements across various initiatives.

Day-to-day, you’ll manage equipment and processes, conducting peer reviews of reports and analyses, and training individuals in advanced techniques. It also involves providing support to engineers facing challenges and overseeing multiple projects to ensure efficiency and progress.

  • Lead Non Destructive Testing (NDT) R&D projects and trials, driving innovation in testing methodologies.
  • Integrate new NDT technologies to expand departmental capabilities and opportunities.
  • Analyse statistical data to enhance R&D outcomes and inform decision-making.
  • Prepare technical reports, literature reviews, and funding proposals to support initiatives.
  • Support large-scale HSR scopes at Devonport and Clyde, advancing operational excellence.

This role is full time 35, hours per week and is based primarily on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard, with opportunities to support off-site projects in Clyde, Rosyth, and international locations such as Crete and Bahrain.

Essential experience of the Production Engineer – Non Destructive Testing

  • Proven experience in complex geometry joint configurations and setups.
  • Proactive in research and innovation for advancing new technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of ultrasonic NDT technologies and equipment.
  • Skilled in producing reports, literature reviews, and presenting proposals.
  • Expertise in statistical data evaluation and relevant software for data analysis.

Qualifications for the Production Engineer – Non Destructive Testing

  • Must hold multiple PCN 2 Level II qualifications, particularly in Ultrasonics.
  • Preferably possesses a National Skill Level 5 or higher qualification, such as a foundation degree, degree apprenticeship, HND, BEng/BSc, or MEng/MSc in a relevant engineering discipline.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
