Job summary

Line Up Aviation is seeking a Production Engineer – Lineside Support for a night shift. The role delivers day-to-day technical support to production operations, resolves issues on the shop floor, and drives continuous improvement. Location is Broughton, Wales, on an initial 12-month contract with a 35-hour week and a £36.70 per hour umbrella pay plus a 30% shift allowance. IR35 inside and BPSS clearance apply.

Qualifications

  • Minimum NVQ Level 4 in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Production Engineering.
  • Experience with SAP or other Manufacturing Execution Systems.
  • Experience in manufacturing, aerospace or industrial production.
  • Proven problem-solving with technical issues.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to production teams.
  • Analyse and resolve technical issues beyond operators' scope.
  • Investigate NCs, disruptions and assembly issues.
  • Prepare DQNs, rework orders and engineering instructions.
  • Support documentation and timely closure of work orders.
  • Liaise with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Logistics and other teams.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Support WIP and ensure compliance with quality standards.

Production Engineer – Lineside Support (nightshift) (BBBH18616) Broughton, Wales

Salary: GBP36.7 - GBP36.7 per hour

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Production Engineer – Lineside Support to join their team on an initial 12-month contract. In this role, you will provide day-to-day engineering support to production operations by resolving technical issues, improving manufacturing processes, and ensuring production activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will play a key role in maintaining production flow, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and driving operational excellence across the shop floor.

Role: Production Engineer – Lineside Support

Pay: £36.70 per hour via Umbrella + 30% Shift allowance

Contract: Monday to Thursday 20.45 - 06:00 - 35 hours per week, 12 months contract

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to production teams.
  • Identify, analyse and resolve technical issues that cannot be managed by Operators or First Line Managers.
  • Investigate and support the resolution of Non-Conformities (NCs), production disruptions and assembly issues.
  • Prepare technical documentation including Design Query Notes (DQNs), rework work orders and engineering instructions.
  • Support the management of outstanding work and ensure all associated documentation is completed accurately.
  • Retrieve and provide technical information including engineering drawings, tooling, parts, specifications and manufacturing documentation.
  • Liaise with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Logistics and other support functions to ensure timely resolution of production issues.
  • Monitor blocked work orders and support production prioritisation to minimise manufacturing delays.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support production meetings by highlighting technical issues impacting manufacturing performance.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement activities by identifying process improvements and supporting Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Contribute to Work Improvement Proposals (WIPs), Process Validation activities and Failure Analysis investigations.
  • Support the specification, repair, modification and calibration of tooling, jigs and other industrial assets.
  • Promote Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards and assist in identifying and resolving Near Misses.
  • Ensure production processes comply with quality standards, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Support logistics activities by helping prioritise materials required for rework and production.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver Operational Excellence objectives.
Essential Skills and Experince
  • Minimum NVQ Level 4 qualification or equivalent in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace or Production Engineering.
  • Knowledge of SAP or other Manufacturing Execution Systems
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, aerospace, engineering or industrial production environment.
  • Experience supporting production teams with technical problem-solving and issue resolution.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience supporting Non-Conformities (NCs), concessions or quality investigations.
  • Strong analytical and root cause investigation skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
