Job summary

Partnership Recruiting is seeking a Production Engineer for a busy Ayrshire manufacturing operation. The role covers the full manufacturing process from drawing review and machining strategy development to CAM programming and process proving.

You will review drawings, develop machining strategies, create CNC programmes, and support production with problem-solving and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Hands-on CNC manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and set up CNC programmes.
• Experience with CAM and tooling/workholding.
• Practical, methodical problem-solving approach.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Production Engineer to join a busy manufacturing operation in Ayrshire.

This is a hands‑on engineering role covering the full manufacturing process from reviewing drawings and developing machining strategies, through CAM programming and problem‑solving to proving processes and supporting production.

Planning & Programming

• Review engineering drawings and manufacturing requirements.
• Develop effective machining strategies, tooling and workholding solutions.
• Create, optimise and modify CNC programmes using CAM.
• Identify and resolve potential manufacturing issues before production.

Machining & Production

• Set and operate CNC machinery when required.
• Prove, refine and optimise CNC programmes.
• Support first-off inspections and production runs.
• Manufacture components accurately to drawing and required quality standards.
• Work closely with production and engineering colleagues to continually improve processes.

About You

We are looking for someone with practical CNC manufacturing experience who enjoys combining engineering knowledge with hands‑on machining.

You’ll ideally have experience in:

• A relevant engineering qualification or apprenticeship would be advantageous, but strong practical CNC programming and machining experience will be considered equally.
• CNC programming and/or CAM
• Interpreting engineering drawings
• Tooling, work holding and machining processes
• Problem‑solving within a manufacturing environment

Most importantly, you’ll have a practical, methodical approach and enjoy figuring out the most effective way to manufacture a component.
