Job summary

Talent STEM Ltd in Northumberland / North Newcastle is seeking a hands-on Production Engineer to support shop-floor manufacturing, investigate issues and develop practical engineering solutions.

You will use CAD to design tooling and fixtures, work closely with operators, technicians and engineering teams, and contribute to continuous improvement of processes, tooling and manufacturing methods in an established advanced environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Tooling or a similar hands-on engineering role.
• Good working knowledge of CAD software and reading engineering drawings.
• Experience in machining, tooling, or manufacturing environments is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate production and manufacturing issues and develop practical engineering solutions

Requirements

• Previous experience within Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Tooling or a similar hands-on engineering role
• Strong practical understanding of manufacturing and production environments
• Comfortable working directly with operators, technicians and production teams on the shop floor
• Good working knowledge of CAD software
• Experience within machining, precision engineering, automotive, tooling, pressings, forging, aerospace or a similar engineering environment would be advantageous
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Experience of tooling, jigs, fixtures or manufacturing process development would be advantageous
• Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience

This role could suit an experienced Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Tooling Engineer or Process Engineer, as well as someone who has progressed from a hands-on machining, CNC or toolmaking background into an engineering position.

The key requirement is someone who understands manufacturing from the shop floor upwards and can combine practical engineering knowledge with CAD capability.

Location: Northumberland / North Newcastle

The site is easily commutable from Newcastle, North Tyneside, Blyth and surrounding areas.
