Job summary

Holt Engineering in Bournemouth is seeking a Production Engineer to build and deliver recovery plans, protect on-time delivery and maximise shopfloor utilisation. You will own NCR/ECR activity, apply lean techniques to cut waste and support scheduling to meet customer deadlines.

The role requires experience in machining/precision manufacturing, strong problem-solving, and clear communication across production and planning. A fast-moving environment awaits with KPI-driven performance expectations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a Production Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer role in a machining/precision manufacturing environment.
  • Confident driving recovery actions, priorities and scheduling to protect OTD.
  • Lean mindset with evidence of waste reduction and practical improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a structured approach to delivery.
  • Clear communication across production, planning and wider stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and delivering recovery plans for late production issues
  • Minimising the effect of overruns in production
  • Minimising the effect of downtime in production
  • Ensuring production resources are fully utilised
  • Working with lean manufacturing techniques to reduce cost of waste
  • Supporting jobs through the scheduling system to ensure OTD to customers
  • Being responsible for ECRs being raised and supporting closure
  • Being responsible for all shopfloor NCRs being raised and supporting closure
  • Driving the reduction of the number of shopfloor NCRs
  • Any other duties relevant to the role

Overview
  • Build and deliver recovery plans for late production issues to protect OTD
  • Reduce overruns and downtime by removing blockers and improving flow
  • Maximise utilisation of shopfloor resources through prioritisation and coordination
  • Own NCR/ECR raising and closure, reducing repeat internal non‑conformance
  • Apply lean techniques to cut waste, cost and disruption across production
Day‑to‑day Responsibilities
  • Creating and delivering recovery plans for late production issues
  • Minimising the effect of overruns in production
  • Minimising the effect of downtime in production
  • Ensuring production resources are fully utilised

  • Comfortable owning NCR/ECR activity from raising through to closure
