About the Role
The Production Assistant is responsible for providing proactive and efficient assistance toTheLancetproduction department and to the widerLancetgroup. The role’s principal responsibilities include article styling, text corrections of pages, production tracking, and production administration. Working to multiple deadlines, the Production Assistant is involved in all aspects of the print and online publication process forThe Lancetgroup’s suite of world-leading medical journals.
Responsibilities
Styling articles from Word using Adobe InCopy CC (including tables and panels) and typeset equations, according to Lancet house style rules
Maintaining Production databases and manuscript tracking system daily to specific deadlines
Managing article and issue metadata to support XML orders to supplier
Inputting editorial and author text corrections to page proofs, as required
Liaising with Editorial and Production colleagues re: page production, workflow, and deadlines
Requirements
Attention to detail – essential
Good eye for design layout and details
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Ability to work in a team and on own initiative
Ability to communicate effectively with internal departments and external suppliers
Knowledge of Word and Excel
Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and/or InCopy desirable
