Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Leicester is seeking a production minder to support the 1st minder and help achieve quality, output and yield targets on mid- to high-speed carton conversion lines. The role requires flexible team work, good hygiene and adhering to industry standards.

You will carry out area clearance, feed and move cartons, apply labels, complete paperwork, and assist in the Despatch and Despatch-related tasks as part of a busy manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Good numeracy and literacy, plus basic PC skills.
• Experience with machines is preferred, ideally in printing, pharmaceuticals, or food environments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out area clearance procedure.
• Flick sorting and feeding cartons into folder/gluer feed across the department range of machines.
• Pack glued cartons into outer cases and apply labels.
• Move pallets of cartons on/off lines and to Despatch.
• Complete paperwork relating to orders produced.
• Maintain general housekeeping of machines and department.
• Liaise with quality department as required.
• Take on additional tasks as requested.

Shift Pattern:

Monday - Friday, alternating shift pattern of 6am - 1.30pm and 1.20 - 8.50pm

Job Purpose

To assist the 1st minder in meeting the planned output for quality, volume and yield to customer requirements and to achieve performance targets for make-ready.

Job Responsibilities/Key Accountabilities

• Carry out area clearance procedure.
• Flick sorting and feeding cartons into folder/gluer feed across the department range of machines from low-speed complex lines to high performance Alpinas.
• Packing glued cartons into corrugate outer cases and apply labels.
• Moving pallets of unglued cartons onto line.
• Moving pallets of glued cartons into Despatch department.
• Correctly complete paperwork/VWT relating to orders being produced.
• General housekeeping of the machines and department.
• Liaise with quality department where required.
• Any other tasks as requested.

• Previous experience of working with machines (ideally in a printing, pharmaceuticals, or food environment)
