Production Assembly - Test Team Lead (Quality Control) Job Description

Your Mission

As our Test Department Team Lead at Newson Gale Ltd, you will combine technical electrical expertise with leadership to manage and motivate the Test Department. In this role, you will ensure the highest standards of testing our static earthing products (final product testing of enclosure with internal PCB) and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation. Your leadership will be key to maintaining operational excellence, delivering consistent quality, and driving continuous improvement within the team. You'll act as the ambassador for the Test Department, engaging with stakeholders across the organization to support their needs and elevate Newson Gale’s reputation for quality and precision.

How you will make a difference
  • Lead by Example: Working hands-on and adhering to our QMS, you will ensure that the team adheres to the highest quality standards, complies with safety regulations, and meets performance goals, driving excellence across all test-related activities.
  • Operational Leadership: Take full accountability for your team's performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), resolve challenges, and motivate your team to exceed expectations.
  • Promote Continuous Improvement: Facilitate the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging feedback and data to drive better performance and quality.
  • Mentorship and Development: Provide guidance to team members, conduct regular performance reviews, and foster a supportive environment that encourages self-improvement and professional growth.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to resolve any issues or queries, ensuring that the Test Team operates seamlessly within the larger organization.
What you should be good at
  • Knowledge and Skills: Experience working with electrical systems to PCB board level only (not components), and awareness of electrical principles is essential.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Proven experience in leading and managing teams, setting clear goals, and handling performance reviews and difficult conversations effectively.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to our QMS System, ISO9001 and ATEX procedures while identifying and addressing potential errors in testing processes.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrate a proactive approach to resolving issues, both within your team and across departments.
  • Communication Skills: Be an effective communicator, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly and motivating others to achieve shared goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives that drive ongoing process improvements, ensuring the team remains flexible and focused on achieving the highest levels of efficiency.
What you can look forward to
  • Leadership Growth: Gain further leadership experience in a supportive, growth-focused environment, with opportunities for career development and advancement.
  • Collaboration: Be part of a dynamic and collaborative team, working closely with other departments and stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a healthy work-life balance with flexible working arrangements and a focus on employee well-being.
  • Recognition & Rewards: Competitive salary and performance-based incentives to reward your contributions. Benefits include 25 days holiday per year plus birthday leave, Life Assurance, Health Insurance (after probation), Income Protection (after 1 year), Employee Assistance Program and more...
