Job summary

CFC Underwriting is seeking a mid‑level Data Scientist to join the Data & AI team in London. You will work on production‑grade ML/LLM systems for underwriting decisions, from prototyping with stakeholders to delivering live, measurable improvements.

You will apply NLP, large language models, and rigorous evaluation to real business challenges, partnering with ML engineers and software developers to scale and monitor solutions in production.

Qualifications

• Experience in Data Science or Applied ML roles.
• Hands-on Python/SQL in production codebases.
• Familiarity with NLP/LLM-powered applications.
• Knowledge of cloud AI platforms, preferably Azure.
• Experience evaluating and deploying ML/LLM systems.

Responsibilities

• Explore high‑dimensional real‑world data to improve underwriting decisions and system performance.
• Collaborate with underwriting and business stakeholders to scope problems and prototype solutions.
• Design evaluation frameworks and measure agent quality in production.
• Build/maintain analytical pipelines, prompts, and bias checks.
• Work with engineers to productionize evaluation/monitoring code.
