Job summary

Boots is seeking a technical lead within its Own Brand Health & Wellness team to drive product development from concept through to launch. You will oversee safety, compliance, and quality, coordinating a cross-functional team and external partners to deliver innovative products that delight customers.

The role requires strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and a commercial mindset to grow our health & wellness categories while maintaining high governance and regulatory awareness.

Qualifications

  • Experience in developing products from brief to market in FMCG or health & wellness sectors.
  • Strong relationship management with internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery.
  • Previous project management experience with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for technical product development ensuring safety, legality, and quality standards.
  • Critique potential product offerings to align with 3-year NPD plans.

What you'll be doing

You’ll lead the technical development and delivery of innovative new products that make a real difference to our customers’ lives. You’ll collaborate with passionate experts across the business and trusted external partners to bring ideas to life—overseeing everything from product concept and technical specifications to product verification, compliance, and launch readiness.

With the customer at the heart of every decision, you’ll help define what great is in Boots Own Brand Health & Wellness, ensuring each new product is safe, effective delight our customers.

You will work within the Boots Technical Service Team as the technical lead on new and existing product development projects, driving the timely resolution of technical challenges and ultimately ensuring the products are safe, legal and meet / exceed the expectations of our customers and patients.

You will be the project lead, coordinating the cross-functional project team to deliver product developments to the agreed timeline, cost and quality. You must be able engage a variety of technical & commercial stakeholders in project delivery, ensuring they understand key opportunities and risks and are able support/ challenge the business opportunity.

You will support the development of a robust 3-year pipeline to deliver the continued growth of their categories.

To achieve this, you must maintain a high level of governance, technical competence, and awareness of the industry across key health and wellness product classifications (General Products, Food / Dietary Supplements, Licensed Medicines, Medical Devices & Cosmetics) and understand broader global implications.

Key responsibilities
  • Accountable for the technical product development activities including ensuring our products are safe, legally compliant and meet our quality, sustainability and ethical standards
  • Technically critiquing potential product offerings to help build and meet our 3 year NPD plans
  • Managing the planning and delivery of projects within the portfolio to meet business KPIs (time, cost, quality) through the application of project management best practice including planning, governance, issue and risk management, change control, stakeholder management, utilization of systems, escalation and accurate up to date provision of project data and reporting
  • Responsible for engagement of all appropriate internal teams (e.g. technical, commercial, product, supply) and experts (e.g. regulatory for product registration) to ensure successful product delivery/market launch
  • Coordinating and compiling the technical product data required for technical product approval and release.
What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)
  • Interest in product development or experience in developing products from brief to market, ideally within FMCG environment.
  • Excellent skills in relationship development & management both internally and externally with a focus on delivery
  • Previous experience in project management
  • Good technical understanding of consumer health & wellness categories
  • Commercial mindset and proven track record of identifying the right opportunity, gaining business buy-in and converting this into commercial success
