Job summary

Nutmeg is seeking a Technologist to own quality standards across design, buying and Merchandising, ensuring every garment is safe, legal and fit for purpose. You’ll partner across teams to deliver commercially winning ranges while exceeding customer expectations.

You’ll set technical standards with suppliers, manage garment approvals, oversee pre-shipment inspections, and stay ahead of market trends by visiting stores and tracking competitors.

Qualifications

• Understanding of UK/EU legislation, garment fit and construction, fabrics, and testing.
• Solid understanding of the buying and merchandising lifecycle and how technical decisions impact the bottom line.
• The ability to influence internal peers and external suppliers with confidence.
• You thrive in a fast moving retail environment and know how to get things done efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Supporting our technical strategy delivering Nutmeg's brand values and quality credentials.
• Build strong ties with Design and Buying to develop our unique 'brand handwriting' while maintaining 100% technical compliance.
• Setting technical standards with our strategic partners in everything from garment fit and grade rules, to Risk assessment and product testing.
• Manage a timely garment approval process and keep our critical path on track.
• Work with our third party providers on pre-shipment and intake inspections.
• Listen and respond to customer queries
• Stay ahead of the curve. You'll regularly visit stores and track competitors to ensure our quality is in line with the market.
• Support the Technical Audit process, ensuring our factory partners meet our rigorous standards.
• Cultivate productive, positive relationships with global suppliers.
• Help to foster an environment where sharing ideas and solving problems is the norm.

About You

You're a \"product person\" through and through, with a sharp eye for detail and a deep understanding of garment construction. You're also a savvy communicator who can influence stakeholders and simplify complex technical issues.
