Job summary

Martin Audio is seeking a placement in High Wycombe to join the Product Support Group. You will work with our product support engineers on hands-on technical support, system design, and customer-facing applications advice, with potential for off-site and event work as you progress.

The role includes on-site support of concert PA systems, liaising with Sales/Engineering on new products, and presenting designs at demonstrations and exhibitions. Training begins immediately.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Acoustics, Audio Engineering, Audio Technology or related field.
  • Knowledge of sound system acoustics and problem solving.
  • Experience with DSP and measurement systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Design operationally optimum systems using in-house simulation software.
  • Present system designs to sales/customers and assist tender documents.
  • Provide applications advice and first-line support to customers.
  • Demonstrate products and liaise with Sales/Engineering on new designs.
  • Support exhibitions and report on product performance strengths/weaknesses.
  • On-site support and commissioning of systems as progress continues.

Job description

The Role:

You will join the Martin Audio Product Support Group (PSG) and work directly alongside our product support engineers. The role will involve hands‑on technical support work including system design, product demonstrations and customer‑facing applications advice, and could extend to off‑site and event work as your training develops.

Based: High Wycombe

Type: Full‑time, 12‑month placement

Salary: £26250 pa

In the initial stage the tasks will include:
  • Designing operationally optimum systems using proprietary in-house simulation software
  • Presenting system designs to sales and/or customers
  • Providing information for inclusion in tender documents, in standard Martin Audio format
  • Applications advice and first line of support
  • Product demonstrations
  • Liaising with Sales and Engineering over new product designs
  • Identifying and reporting sales opportunities
  • Supporting visitors during exhibitions and other marketing events
  • Reporting on product performance strengths and weaknesses
As You Progress:
  • On‑site support of Martin Audio concert PA systems
  • On‑site commissioning of projects
  • Liaising with and advising audio consultants
  • Organising and presenting training, internally and externally
Requirements:
  • Degree Course: Acoustics, Audio Engineering, Audio Technology, or a closely related subject
  • A good knowledge of sound system acoustics and a keen approach to problem solving are required. Experience with modern DSP and amplifier platforms, and familiarity with measurement systems such as EASE, SMAART or Systune, will be an advantage
Job Conditions:

You are expected to work 37.5 hours per week, over the standard working hours of 8.45am to 5.30pm, Monday to Thursday and 8.45am to 4pm on Friday. An hour is allowed for lunch Monday to Thursday and 45 minutes on Friday. You will be expected to work at the head office site in High Wycombe part time each week.

You will report to the Product Group Manager.

All placements last for 12-months. We pay you £26250 per year (£28900 for London-based roles), and you get to share some of the same benefits as our permanent employees.
