Job summary

CBSbutler is supporting a world-leading engineering organisation developing advanced propulsion technology for defence applications, and they're looking for a Product Safety Engineer to join their growing Engineering team.

This is an opportunity to influence product safety from concept through to in-service support, working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure complex products meet the highest standards of safety, compliance and technical integrity.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Science or related technical discipline.
• Experience producing Safety Cases and Safety Management Plans.
• Knowledge of hazard identification techniques including FMEA, FTA or similar.
• Strong communication skills to influence multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience working in regulated engineering environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead product safety activities across the full engineering lifecycle from concept to production and in-service support.
• Develop Product Safety Management Plans and deliver robust safety programmes.
• Facilitate hazard identification and risk analysis using recognised techniques such as FMEA and FTA.
• Produce high-quality Safety Case reports demonstrating safety for intended use.
• Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, Systems and Project teams to embed safety throughout.
• Advise stakeholders on safety requirements, risk reduction strategies and regulatory compliance.
• Act as technical focal point for product safety within programmes.

What you'll be doing

• Leading product safety activities across the full engineering lifecycle, from concept and development through to production and in-service support.
• Developing Product Safety Management Plans and delivering robust safety programmes.
• Facilitating hazard identification and risk analysis activities using recognised techniques such as FMEA and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
• Producing high-quality Safety Case reports that demonstrate products are safe for their intended use.
• Working closely with Design, Manufacturing, Systems and Project teams to ensure safety is embedded throughout the engineering process.
• Advising internal stakeholders on safety requirements, risk reduction strategies and regulatory compliance.
• Acting as the technical focal point for product safety within multidisciplinary engineering programmes.

You'll also bring

• A degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline.
• Experience producing Safety Cases and Safety Management Plans.
• Knowledge of hazard identification techniques including FMEA, FTA or similar methodologies.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience working within regulated engineering environments.
