Job summary

Manpower Group (UK) is assisting a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation in recruiting a Product Safety Engineer. The role focuses on owning safety activities across the development lifecycle and ensuring compliance with stringent safety standards.

You will lead hazard identification, perform risk assessments using FMEA/FTA, and develop safety management plans. You’ll collaborate with design, manufacturing and project teams to deliver ALARP safety solutions and compelling safety

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience in a regulated, high-hazard industry such as Defence, Aerospace, Space, Automotive, Nuclear or similar.
• Experience producing safety case reports and safety management plans; applying hazard analysis techniques.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to explain complex technical risks clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead hazard identification and risk assessment activities using recognised methodologies such as FMEA and FTA.
• Develop and maintain Product Safety Management Plans and safety-related development roadmaps.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing and project teams to implement risk reduction measures and ensure ALARP outcomes.
• Produce high-quality safety case reports demonstrating product safety and suitability for operation.
• Act as the primary safety engineering focal point, communicating with internal teams, customers and external stakeholders.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced Product Safety Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to influence product safety throughout the entire development lifecycle, from initial concept and design through qualification, production and customer support.

You will take ownership of safety engineering activities, working closely with technical specialists and stakeholders to ensure products meet stringent safety and regulatory requirements.

WHAT TO EXPECT

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience within a regulated, high-hazard industry such as Defence, Aerospace, Space, Automotive, Nuclear or similar.
• Experience producing safety case reports, safety management plans and applying hazard analysis techniques.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical risks clearly.
• Knowledge of industry safety standards, quality management systems or safety-critical product development would be advantageous.
