Job description

PayCaptain is the UK’s first AI-powered Payroll SaaS platform built with financial wellbeing at its core, transforming transactional paydays into an experience benefiting the whole organisation.

Think: payroll + employee benefits + financial resilience tools = one beautifully simple app.

We’re transforming payroll from a back-office chore into a strategic experience that boosts employee financial confidence, reduces admin for Payroll and HR teams, and helps companies genuinely support the people who work for them.

Why is PayCaptain an exciting place to work?

This is a brand-new role, created to define and lead Product Marketing at PayCaptain.

As we scale, we need someone who can sit at the intersection of product, partnerships, sales, and brand - shaping how we talk about PayCaptain, how we launch innovations, and how we prove value to the market.

You won’t be inheriting a rigid playbook. You’ll be building it.

If you enjoy ownership, influence, and turning complex products into compelling stories - this role will suit you perfectly.

And yes, we’re fully remote, with flexible meeting spaces in Manchester and London whenever you want IRL collaboration.

But honestly? The best part isn’t the product or the compensation - it’s the people. We operate with trust, ownership, zero ego, zero politics, and genuine belief in the mission.

If that resonates, you’ll fit right in.

Who are you?
  • You’re a strategic, creative and hands-on Product Marketing Manager with a strong instinct for messaging, storytelling, and commercial impact.
  • You understand how to translate product innovation into clear value propositions, thought leadership, and sales enablement and you enjoy working cross-functionally with Product, Sales, Partnerships, and Leadership.
  • You’re naturally creative and enjoy thought-inspiring content, sales and marketing assets. You’re tenacious in obtaining the information you need from the team, love reaching out to the right people and building relationships across the business and with partners.
  • Most importantly: you care about building products and narratives that genuinely make a difference.
5 Reasons to Join PayCaptain
  1. 1. Build product marketing from the ground up - This is a greenfield role with real autonomy. You’ll define positioning, launches, content strategy, and enablement from scratch.
  2. 2. Work on a genuinely differentiated product - Payroll, AI, and financial wellbeing - combined in a way no one else in the UK market is doing.
  3. 3. High impact, cross-functional influence - You’ll work closely with Product, Sales, Partnerships, and Leadership, shaping how PayCaptain goes to market.
  4. 4. Remote-first, trust-led culture - Work from anywhere in the UK, with flexible meet-ups in Manchester and London. No micromanagement - just ownership.
  5. 5. Purpose-led business - As a mission-driven B Corp, we balance growth with impact, building tools that improve people’s financial lives.
What You’ll Do
Thought Leadership, Partnerships & Product Innovation
  • Own and deliver PayCaptain’s thought leadership strategy
  • Create high-quality white papers, infographics, and insight-led content
  • Plan and host themed and solution-based webinars
  • Write and commission blog content and secure third-party placements
  • Partner closely with external organisations to co-create insight and content
Product Development & Launch
  • Support and amplify strategic partnerships (e.g. Nest Insight, Plain Numbers, Open Org, CIPP)
  • Lead product announcements, launches, and customer-focused update communications
  • Work with Product to translate roadmap developments into clear, compelling narratives
  • Ensure launches are aligned across Marketing, Sales, and Customer teams
  • Own and refine PayCaptain’s value propositions across audiences
  • Build clear ROI messaging for buyers and decision-makers
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality messaging across website, platform, mobile app, and campaigns
  • Turn complex payroll and financial concepts into simple, human language
  • Create and maintain sales-ready assets, including:
  • Website content
  • Pitch and presentation decks
  • Case studies, proof points, and statistics
  • Webinar recordings (including system walkthroughs)
  • Video content (animations, teasers, explainer content)
  • Enable Sales with the right story, at the right time, for the right audience
What Soft Skills Do We Look For?
  • Strategic thinking – you can zoom out and define positioning, then zoom in and execute
  • Clarity of communication – you simplify without dumbing down
  • Collaboration – you work naturally across Product, Sales, and Partnerships
  • Commercial awareness – you understand how messaging drives revenue
  • Ownership – you take responsibility and follow things through
What Experience Do You Need?
  • Proven experience in Product Marketing within SaaS or B2B tech (this might be from a Product, Brand or Content background, please highlight this in your CV)
  • Strong background in messaging, positioning, and go-to-market execution
  • Comfortable using digital design tools such as Canva, Photoshop/Adobe suite and web tools like Loveable or Wordpress (or similar – we aren’t tied to one tech stack).
  • Experience working closely with Product and Sales teams
  • Comfort operating in a scaling business with evolving structure
  • Experience in Payroll, HR tech, Financial Wellbeing, or employee benefits is a huge bonus.
What Can We Do for YOU?
  • Remote, Flexible Work
  • 25 Days Holiday + Your Birthday Off
  • Quarterly Wellness Allowance
  • YuLife Benefits including life insurance & critical illness cover
  • Cycle-to-work + Nursery Salary Sacrifice Schemes
  • Enhanced Parental Leave (12 weeks at 100% pay, 12 weeks at 50% for Maternity; 4 weeks at 100% for Paternity)
  • Access to PayCaptain for financial wellbeing tools, emergency cash access and savings features

…and more. Just ask.

Salary & OTE Structure
  • Base salary: £60k-65k, depending on experience.
  • Role progression, experience, ownership and leadership capabilities determine positioning within salary range.
