Job description

Lyst is a global Fashion Tech company and premium shopping app, founded in London in 2010 and catering to over 200M shoppers per year. We offer our customers the largest assortment of premium & luxury fashion items & products in one place, via an assortment of 8.5M+ items from over 17,000 of the world’s leading brands. We are a scale-up business with a current team size of c. 160 people in London, combining an agile mentality with a proven business model and over a decade of experience. This provides a balance between foundations and structure, and autonomy and pace.

At Lyst we obsess over the customer, providing a search & discovery experience which offers inspiration, fulfilment, and personalisation. We believe that fashion is amazing but shopping for fashion often isn’t, and use our technology, data and creativity to bring more joy, greater choice and fewer fails. Our mission is to help fashion shoppers make better decisions and help fashion partners find better audiences as the category-leading destination for every fashion shopper.

The Role

As a Product Manager at Lyst, you will play a critical role in creating impactful user experiences that address key challenges and unlock value for the business. You will lead discovery efforts to identify and validate new opportunities, collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop innovative solutions and test hypotheses. Your work will drive meaningful outcomes and help shape the future of our product. As a member of the Product & Design Chapter, you will also receive mentoring and training to set you up with all the skills needed to grow your product career at Lyst.

What will you be working on?

You will be developing and enhancing a suite of products that power all of Lyst, building impactful features that bring value to our customers, partners, and Lyst operational staff. You will be solving problems with varying technical complexity, ensuring the teams are heading in the right direction strategically while also keeping them on track day to day. In order to do this, you will:

  • Turn company strategy into team strategy. You will be working with other leaders across the company to determine the right direction for your teams to move in, while collaborating with an engineering and machine learning team to determine what is possible.
  • Prioritise the work to be done. There are many opportunities we could go after, and many different solutions, but time and resources are limited. You'll need to work with analysts and researchers to help identify the most impactful customer and business problems we need to solve, and work with engineers to craft creative and viable solutions.
  • Own execution and delivery. Once your goals are defined, it is your responsibility to ensure the team delivers on the goals. You will ensure the teams are tackling the correct problems and you will work side by side with them, giving them support and unblocking them when necessary.
  • Bring stakeholders along on the journey. You will be communicating with senior colleagues across the company to keep them apprised of the progress your team is making throughout the year. Strong inter-team communication feeds into the work of coming up with future strategic goals.
  • Platform Product Management: You have some foundational years behind you, ideally working on a platform product that has delivered impact in a commercially driven organisation. You are comfortable setting measurable objectives and key results for your team. Experience managing a successful product or feature throughout its lifecycle, from ideation through to experimentation and scaling, is essential.
  • Stakeholder management: You are able to communicate and collaborate with a range of stakeholders. You work hard to earn their trust and buy-in but also push back whenever necessary.
  • Agile: You have solid experience working within agile frameworks. You know how to work with an engineering team to prove fast, iterate, and pivot when necessary.
  • Analytics: Hands-on experience and proficiency with using product analytics to understand customer behaviour. You are able to make data-informed decisions that inform your product roadmap. You are comfortable with A/B testing concepts and are able to draw conclusions from incomplete data.
  • Technical-minded: You can pitch in your product sense during technical design discussions & whiteboarding, and can help to define iterations and scope for large technical projects. Previous experience as an engineer is not necessary.
  • Prioritisation: You can ruthlessly prioritise while also balancing priority opportunities against necessary day-to-day maintenance work.
  • Communication: You are able to communicate clearly with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders and be humble when sharing ideas with everyone on the team.
  • Hunger for learning: You are inquisitive and want to dive deep into any problem, to understand the underlying mechanics and find the right solution.
  • Impact focus: You have a strong desire to see your work result in changes across our company, leading to significant business impact. You collaborate with your team to prove fast and deliver impactful results.
  • Inclusive: You contribute to an inclusive and positive working environment for everyone.

Things that matter to us:

  • You care deeply about delivering a fantastic experience for your users, whether they are customers, partners, or internal staff. You are commercially driven, getting a kick out of driving increases in things like conversion rate, monetisation and sign up rate
  • You’re interested in artificial intelligence and machine learning, and are able to apply product thinking to get the best out of the technology
  • You are comfortable with working in an ambiguous product domain - sometimes we need to explore completely new problem spaces and be able to experiment to find the best solution
  • You are pragmatic and you like engaging with hard problems
  • You are highly analytical and data-curious. You’re well versed in qualitative and quantitative analytics and know when to lean on user research or A/B testing
  • You are a team player and communicate with your peers and other stakeholders in the company on a day to day basis
  • You enjoy nurturing your colleagues and empowering the team to the fullest of their ability
  • You thrive on working in a fast paced environment.

Nice to have, but not essential:

  • Experience with performance marketing, particularly around launching and optimising campaigns on Google Ads and Meta Ads
    • Our Ways of Working: We all come into the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with the option to work remotely or come into the office on the other days. We believe that in person collaboration and community spirit is super important, which is why we spend some of our time in the office and some of our time at home.
    • Time Off: In addition to the 8 statutory bank holidays, you will receive 29 holidays per year. Lyst’s holiday year runs from 1 April to 31 March.
    • Competitive Family Leave Package: This includes Enhanced Family Leave for those eligible, paid Time off for Dependents and Support for Fertility Treatment & Loss.
    • Clothing Benefit: We want you to enjoy using the Lyst app and site as much as our customers, so we provide you with a clothing allowance to use on Lyst every year. This starts at £250 when you join and increases up to £1,000 with your length of service.
    • Private Healthcare: Our healthcare provider is Vitality. Your health is important to us which is why we offer all employees a comprehensive healthcare scheme from the day you start.
    • Training Allowance: We’re big on continuous learning and growth, so all employees are currently entitled to an annual training allowance of £1,000. This can be used to attend conferences, industry events, training courses and to purchase resources.
    • Pension Scheme: Our pension provider is The People’s Pension. We offer a minimum employee contribution of 5% and 3% employer contribution.
    • Eye Tests and Vouchers: Employees can make a saving on their eye test and glasses through our chosen provider. You’ll receive a free eye test every year and a discount towards glasses.
    • Cycle-to-Work Scheme: Lyst will purchase a bicycle from your chosen retailer, you will then receive a voucher to pick up your bicycle from them.
    • Transport Season Ticket Loan: Employees can apply for an interest free season ticket loan to support your travel to work.
    • Social Events: Frequent company wide social events including Christmas & summer parties, sports days, themed drinks, quizzes, cook alongs, as well as smaller team socials. We also have plenty of interest based groups such as football, running club, book club, culinary and more.

We want to build a world where fashion works for everyone, and we want teams that are just as inclusive. Diversity and inclusion is an integral part of our culture at Lyst. We recognise and celebrate the value and impact diversity brings to our company and are committed to ensuring this is a consistent focus, for which we are held to account. We are committed to treating all applicants fairly and equally, and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply for this role. We are happy to talk about flexible working arrangements.

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Lyst we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
