SAMUEL GUÌ YANG is a London based design studio established in 2015 with roots in both London and Shanghai. The collections are marked by the duality of the team behind them. By mixing and merging Chinese and western codes, and historic and contemporary references they create a language that both fits and challenges.

With a meticulous focus on construction and fabrication the goal is to create pragmatic wardrobe pieces imbued with strong character and a sense of mystery. The brand aims to operate with a holistic sustainable approach where choices of fabrics, manufacturers, design, and ways of presentation are all taken into careful consideration.

SAMUEL GUÌ YANG has been awarded 2020 Designer of the year by Elle China, 2020 LVMH Prize semi-finalist and 2018 Emerging designer of year at Shanghai fashion week. The brand has been featured in multiple large publications such as Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and Wallpaper and has collaborated successfully with companies such as Icicle and Soft Mountain.

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Product Manager to lead the end-to-end lifecycle of our seasonal collections—from development and sourcing through to production, sales, and delivery. This pivotal role demands expertise in production planning, material procurement, costing, quality assurance, and team management. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and cross-functional collaborator who thrives in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely delivery, maintaining margin targets, and upholding our high-quality standards. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role is essential in driving operational excellence and supporting the commercial success of our products.

Responsibilities

Planning

  • Ensure execution of milestones to meet on-time delivery of sales collection and bulk production.
  • Ensure logistics, operations, and timelines are coordinated across all raw materials and finished goods categories, with proactive follow-ups on deadlines.

Development & Production

  • Oversee sourcing and development of seasonal materials and trims in collaboration with the Atelier Coordinator.
  • Work with the design team to launch patterns to pattern cutters and factories.
  • Monitor the bulk procurement process from SMS approval to delivery; hand over to Production Coordinator where relevant.
  • Support and lead PROTO, SMS, and PPS handovers with factories alongside the design team and Atelier Coordinator.
  • Book sampling and production capacity with manufacturers.
  • Negotiate minimums, lead times, and resolve procurement-related challenges.
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with suppliers and factories.
  • Assist Production Coordinator CN with bulk fabric ordering for production.

Margins

  • Responsible for product costing to ensure margin goals are achieved.
  • Set up product costings and style codes in Zedonk and generate sales documents.
  • Continuously review pricing structure and suggest cost improvements.
  • Ensure accurate entry of prices and ratings into Zedonk at each stage.

Quality

  • Support fabric testing processes through to approval (e.g., seam, stitch, and fusing tests).
  • Collaborate with the design team and Atelier Coordinator to enhance garment quality and hanger appeal.
  • Support garment measuring and record keeping.
  • Attend fittings to address fit issues through creative and technical solutions, ensuring balance between cost, quality, and lead time.
  • Define and uphold quality standards for both suppliers and internal production.
  • Provide Sales team with relevant product and development information before the sales period.
  • Collate and share Sales Analysis with senior management.
  • Process and manage Rest of World (ROW) sales and input data into Zedonk.
  • Communicate with ROW stores and customers regarding payment and delivery timelines.
  • Enter and process all China sales orders in Zedonk.
  • Coordinate with SH Office Manager to manage surplus units, direct sales, and extra fabric orders, subject to Managing Director approval.
  • Handle reorders in close collaboration with Production Coordinator CN.

Admin

  • Update the Invoice/Budget Tracker and report any changes to the Managing Director.
  • Ensure the studio is organized, operational, and functions efficiently.
  • Book shipments via DHL and monitor delivery follow-ups.
  • Maintain clean and updated studio boards.
  • Organize studio swatches and archive materials systematically.

Management

  • Manage the Design Development & Atelier Coordinator.
  • Supervise the Production & Development Assistant and Intern(s).
