Job summary

Serac Group, a UK-based technology company transforming planning and construction with AI, is hiring a Product Lead to shape what comes next. You will own product direction across multiple products, balancing new bets with improvements to live work and collaborating with engineers, designers and stakeholders.

You’ll steer the roadmap, set clear specs, and guide the integration of AI to improve outcomes for councils, homeowners and professionals while ensuring compliance and reliability.

Qualifications

Help us rebuild how buildings get made, and decide what we build next.

Getting a building approved, designed and built in the UK takes too long and costs too much. Most of the process still runs on PDFs, email chains and manual checks. We are replacing that with data and AI.

We started with planning. Since 2020 we have gone from a bootstrapped lead gen app to a suite of products used across the property world. IBex powers most of UK conveyancing with planning data. Planda uses AI to predict planning outcomes. Planda Portal launched in 2026 and went national in months. Half of planning applications are submitted invalid and we're the reason that number is falling.

Planning was step one. We are now building much more across the built environment. We are a team of more than 50, moving fast, and hiring a Product Lead to shape what comes next.

Planda Portal - Digital planning submissions that validate applications before they reach the council. For architects and planning consultants.

Planda - AI that predicts planning outcomes. For homeowners and estate agents.

IBex - The UK's leading API for planning application data. For conveyancers and enterprise clients.

Serac Tech - Automated outreach to construction projects nationwide. For construction companies looking for new work.

Each one has its own users, its own rules and its own roadmap.

The role

You will own what we build, why we build it, and how well it works once it's live.

You will oversee multiple products, and your involvement will vary. Some will need you every day, others a steer every few weeks. Knowing where to spend your time is part of the job.

Our engineers are product engineers. They think about users, make good calls and don't need every detail spelled out. You won't be managing a backlog for them. You will set direction, get the hard details right, and make sure what ships is something we're proud of.

Much of what we build sits in regulated, statutory territory. A wrong fee or a missed exemption isn't a cosmetic bug, it's a real problem for a real application.

You’ll be managed by Alice, our Head of Product, and work alongside our designer and product engineers. Day to day you’ll also work with Giulio, our CTO, and the tech team, plus Brandon, our CEO, Riccardo, our Chief of Staff, and our council, sales and growth teams.

What you'll do

Direction

Set and own product direction across our products, balancing new bets with improving what's live.

Prioritise ruthlessly: what we build, what we hold and what we say no to.

Know our market and competitors well enough to see where we can win.

Building

Write clear specs that give engineers the context to run, without telling them how.

Go deep on domain detail when it matters: planning rules, forms, fees and the edge cases nobody else will spot.

Shape how we use AI in our products, including what it should and shouldn't do.

Quality

Own release quality. Test flows yourself and catch problems before customers do.

Spot regression risk early, especially where a change could affect live customer workflows.

Decide what ships, what waits and what gets fixed forward.

Customers

Design how support works, and turn recurring issues into product fixes.

Speak to users regularly and bring what you learn back into the roadmap.

Join conversations with councils, partners and integrators when they need product depth.

What we're looking for

You don't have to be brilliant at all of this yet. You just have to want to be.

You take ownership. You finish things and care about the details nobody sees

You're happy doing the unglamorous parts: a QA pass, a help article, a careful customer reply

You think about both sides of a product. We often serve the person submitting and the person receiving

You give and take honest feedback, because it makes the work better

Skills

You have owned products end to end, ideally in a small team without separate QA or product ops

You are comfortable in complex, rules heavy domains

You are technical enough to have real conversations with engineers and understand trade offs

You write clearly. Specs, support content and customer comms are all part of the job

You use AI tools to move faster and test more than a team twice your size

Indicators we look out for

You have shipped something in a regulated or detail heavy space: planning, legal, finance or government

You have worked across product, design, data or support and enjoyed it

You have opinions about products you use and can explain why

What this role is not

If you want to set strategy and hand everything else off, this isn’t the one. We think the best product people stay close to the work: testing what ships, reading support tickets and talking to users. That’s how you spot what matters.
