Job summary

Apollo Research is seeking its first dedicated Engineering Manager to lead the Watcher product engineering team in a hands-on, player-coach capacity. You will own planning, execution, and people management while shipping code in Python and TypeScript.

Qualifications

• Must have a strong engineering background with hands-on coding (Python/TypeScript) and people management experience.
• Experience running delivery for multi-person engineering efforts with tickets and milestones.
• Comfort with AI-enabled tooling to support management and coding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Own the team’s planning and tracking with clear owners and scope.
• Run planning rhythms (standups, retros, etc.) and manage dependencies.
• Directly manage product engineers, oversee performance and growth.
• Ship code when needed and set technical standards and release processes.
