Job summary

Morgan Jones Recruitment Consultants is seeking a seasoned Product Systems Design Engineer for a lead role in Daventry. You will drive mechanical design and system integration for advanced electronic hardware, working across sensors, control units, harnesses, panels and support structures to realise robust, testable solutions.

You will mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and collaborate with multiple functions to ensure performance, reliability and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Significant experience at Senior or Lead Engineer level.
• Strong mechanical design and systems integration experience.
• Proven track record of technical problem solving and sound engineering judgement.
• Experience with CAD modelling and engineering analysis tools.
• Knowledge of Creo is preferred.
• Experience with Creo Cabling, Windchill and MS Project would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead component and subsystem design concept development and optimisation.
• Design and integrate electronic hardware including sensors, control units, harnesses, panels and support structures.
• Deliver detailed design reviews and communicate design intent to cross-functional teams.
• Translate stakeholder requirements into robust, verifiable engineering solutions.
• Apply engineering principles to improve performance, reliability, manufacturability and serviceability.
• Lead design validation activities including risk assessments and engineering analysis.
• Support product issue resolution through structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes and best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance within project teams.
• Collaborate with colleagues across engineering, manufacturing, quality and programme management functions.

What We're Looking For
