Job description

What’s the role about?

As our Childrenswear Product Developer, you’ll be at the heart of our product creation process managing the development and approval of samples, overseeing cost negotiations, and ensuring each stage of the product lifecycle runs smoothly and on time. You’ll take full ownership of the critical path, working closely with internal teams and global suppliers to deliver high-quality, on-brand Childrenswear collections that meet both creative vision and commercial objectives. This role is integral to the success of the department and will require a hands-on, solutions-focused approach to problem solving and process management. You’ll be based at our Picton Place office in London and will report directly to the Head of Childrenswear, working alongside Design, Merchandising, and Technical teams to ensure cohesive and timely product delivery.

  • Ideally experienced in buying but not essential.
  • A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Highly organised with a sound understanding of the critical path.
  • Skilled at prioritising workloads to meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledgeable in supply management, sample development, and cost control.
  • Previous experience within a retail head office environment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Coordinating factory prototype sample requirements efficiently.
  • Ensuring costings and fabric ratings are received and negotiated where appropriate.
  • Confirming production ex-factory dates with suppliers to keep timelines on track.
  • Adding accurate cost details to buy sheets for management sign-off.
  • Negotiating and gaining approval for factory cost prices.
  • Monitoring and updating the critical path daily to reflect current status.
  • Collaborating with the Design team and factories on lab dip submissions and approvals.
  • Coordinating with fabric and trim departments on delivery schedules and availability.
  • Attending fit sessions and communicating key issues and solutions to suppliers.
  • Ensuring consistent communication with Merchandising and Design teams for alignment.
