Job summary

Manthorpe Building Products, part of Genuit Group, is recruiting a Product Designer to join the Product Development team in the UK. You will lead design across the lifecycle, from opportunities and concepts through testing, manufacturing, and product launch, collaborating with Development, Sales, and Production to enhance existing ranges.

The role focuses on turning technical challenges into practical, innovative construction products for the UK market.

Qualifications

• Degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Engineering Design, or related discipline.
• Experience using 3D CAD software, ideally Creo Parametric (Pro Engineer).
• Strong understanding of engineering and product development principles.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration across departments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Adobe Creative Suite experience would be advantageous.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Proactive approach and genuine interest in innovation and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Research market trends, industry developments, and customer requirements to identify opportunities for new products and product improvements.
• Create design briefs and technical specifications to support product development projects.
• Produce concept designs using sketching, modelling, CAD, and rapid prototyping techniques.
• Develop concepts into commercially viable products through the selection of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Create and maintain technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Test and evaluate prototypes and finished products to ensure compliance with standards and performance requirements.
• Produce technical literature, installation guides, and supporting documentation.
• Provide technical support and product expertise across the wider business.
• Support manufacturing improvement initiatives through research, analysis, and practical problem-solving.
• Work collaboratively with production, quality, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure successful product delivery.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects that enhance quality, efficiency, sustainability, and safety.
