Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic Product Design & Validation student to join our On-Highway Engineering Services in Darlington.

You will learn how a major global organization operates while gaining hands-on experience during a 12-month placement. During the placement, you will develop design capabilities, verify concepts, and participate in safety reviews, with exposure to cross-functional teams and real-world product development challenges.

Qualifications

• We seek candidates studying toward a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering or STEM with a 12-month industry placement included.
• Strong logical thinking and a lucid approach to tasks, obstacles, hobbies, etc.
• Proficient in MS Office and 3D modelling software (Catia/Creo/SolidWorks).

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating design specifications considering cost, weight, performance, product life, manufacturability and service requirements.
• Verify designs using data and tests; interpret results and assess risk.
• Apply engineering and scientific skills to develop solutions and participate in design and safety reviews.
• Support investigations into New Product Introduction and Current Product support.
• Collaborate with Operations, Sourcing and Marketing to meet stakeholder requirements throughout development.
• Validation tasks include record keeping, studying test data, drafting test plans and reports.
