Location: Remote

About the Job

Our team at ProblemShared is growing. We are a key innovator in the rapidly expanding field of digital mind health, and we have opportunities available to join our supportive and collaborative team.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Product Design Lead. You will join a high-performing team at a scaling health technology company and have responsibility for driving our business growth from day one.

We believe you can do the best work of your career with us and have a meaningful impact on the patients we support. We combine People, Data, and Technology, empowering individuals to take the next step in their mental health or neurodevelopmental journey.

About Us

The digital healthcare landscape is exciting and ever-changing. Our team has deep knowledge in this field; working at the forefront of change, you will be surrounded by talented and supported colleagues and leaders.

We are a practitioner-led, CQC-regulated digital mind health provider, working with expert practitioners to broaden access to high-quality care across the UK. Leveraging technology, we aim to provide scalable, personalized solutions that enhance mental well-being and bridge gaps in mental healthcare delivery.

We partner with institutions such as the NHS, insurance companies, and universities to deliver therapy, psychiatry, neurodevelopmental assessments, and post-diagnosis care for adults, children, and young people.

The Role

We seek a Design Lead skilled in both UI and UX digital product design. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for UX, with expertise in this area, but will also handle UI responsibilities daily.

Given the variety of user problems from different areas and types, the candidate must be adept at prioritization and stakeholder management. You will drive the design of intuitive, user-centric experiences for both clinician and client-facing web applications, applying design thinking principles to create engaging and valuable user experiences, and promoting human-centered methodologies within the product team. This role includes line management responsibilities.

You will:
  • Lead design projects across clinician and client web applications, delivering seamless user experiences.
  • Conduct user research (interviews, surveys, usability testing), create user personas, journey maps, and wireframes based on insights.
  • Develop high-quality UI designs, including mock-ups, prototypes, and design systems, focusing on visual consistency, responsiveness, and accessibility.
  • Create intuitive information architecture, hierarchies, interaction flows, and wireframes to ensure easy navigation and usability.
  • Maintain and evolve ProblemShared's design system for consistency across all products.
  • Collaborate with our senior designer to foster organizational design evolution and promote best practices.
  • Stay updated with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies, bringing innovative ideas to enhance user experience and product functionality.
  • Develop and maintain understanding of neurodiversity and its implications for designing effective tools.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful product delivery.
  • Manage workloads, monitor processes, and incorporate stakeholder feedback to improve team output and service delivery.
What we are looking for:
  • Experience in a B2C environment, with demonstrated ability to influence user interaction and engagement, including application of ‘Nudge Theory’.
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods, with the ability to scrutinize approaches and methodologies.
  • A passion for creating user experiences that address diverse user needs.
  • Understanding and interest in behavioral psychology.
  • Skilled in human-centric design, using data and user feedback to inform decisions.
  • Ability to run productive workshops and extract creative ideas from participants.
  • Open to feedback, with the ability to iterate quickly based on stakeholder input.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects, balancing priorities and delivering high-quality work on time.
  • Experience in line managing and coaching a small design team.
  • Passionate about elevating team output quality.
  • Organized and process-driven, with clear ideas on workload management for efficiency and transparency.

Desirable additional experience includes:

  • Experience in regulated environments.
  • Experience with health-related products.
  • Senior-level product design experience, preferably within a startup or scale-up environment.
What we offer:
  • Competitive salary
  • Employer-matched pension
  • 30 days annual leave plus public holidays, with options to buy/sell additional leave and extended leave options like sabbaticals
  • Private health insurance
  • Family-friendly policies
  • Flexible working, including free co-working options
  • In-person team meetups
  • Wellbeing activities
  • Development and training opportunities
  • One volunteering day per year
