Job summary

Vax is seeking a Product Design Engineer in Droitwich to own the mechanical design of dry floor care products from concept to production. You’ll CAD complex parts (CREO preferred) and coordinate with plastics/metals manufacturing, including tolerance stack-ups, FEA, and failure analysis.

• Proven background in mechanical or product design engineering from concept to production.
• Experience with airflow, motors, filtration, sealing, cordless or battery systems is beneficial.
• 3D CAD of complex parts and assemblies with tolerance stackups and design for manufacture.
• Familiarity with CREO, SolidWorks, Inventor, Onshape or Fusion for mechanical design.

Vax vacuums sit in millions of UK homes, and next year, as the brand turns fifty, its Droitwich engineering team is being rebuilt from scratch. This Product Design Engineer role gives you ownership of mechanical design for wet or dry floor care products (DOE), from CAD to production. Why this might beat the job you're in now You own the mechanical design end to end, not signed off in slices. Independence grows as you prove it, not with time served. NPD is being rebuilt from the ground up, so you help shape how the team works. Design, build and test in quick loops instead of waiting on a polished brief.

Role at a glance

• Location: Droitwich, Worcestershire, four days a week on site
• Contract: Permanent, full time
• Travel: Occasional trips to suppliers, including China

What you will own

As Product Design Engineer, you take the mechanical design of dry floor care products from concept to production. CAD for complex parts and assemblies, primarily CREO, with SolidWorks, Inventor, Onshape and Fusion all fine. Tolerance stack ups, FEA and failure analysis on your own designs. Design for manufacture calls across plastics and metals, with production-ready specs. Direct communication with the China build and production teams as designs move to manufacture.

What you will need

• A proven background in mechanical or product design engineering, taking products from CAD to production.
• Electromechanical experience in airflow, motors, filtration, sealing, cordless or battery.
• Proven 3D CAD of complex parts and assemblies, with tolerance stack ups and design for manufacture.
• Handy but not essential: vacuum or filtration experience, CREO, and Far East manufacturing exposure.

• Salary: Market range, depending on experience (purposefully not advertised)
