Job Description:

Product Design Engineer required for a designer and manufacturer of luxury lighting based in Halesowen. We seek an innovative and skilled engineer with a strong background in the lighting industry. The role involves engineering aspects of product development, working with a creative design team to realize lighting concepts. The ideal candidate will have advanced SolidWorks skills, experience with 3D printing for prototyping and manufacturing, and expertise in engineering metal and other materials. The role requires technical proficiency and project management skills to deliver high-quality, manufacturable products.

• Develop lighting products from concept to full production, collaborating with the design team to ensure feasibility and manufacturability.
• Use 3D printing and rapid prototyping to create models, optimize designs for manufacturing, ensuring precision and quality.
• Create detailed CAD drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation using SolidWorks, ensuring compliance with standards like BS-EN 60598.
• Apply knowledge of metal materials and processes to design durable, functional, and aesthetically aligned lighting components.
• Manage product development projects, meeting milestones, timelines, and budgets.
• Collaborate with design, supply chain, production, and quality teams; explore innovative solutions from other industries.
• Address engineering challenges with practical solutions, adapting designs based on testing and manufacturing feedback.
• Work with manufacturers and supply chain team, including visits in the UK and abroad as needed.
• Perform and document environmental tests (CIBSE TM65/TM66) to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Experience in lighting industry, focusing on lighting design and product development.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office; experience with Dialux is a plus.
• Strong understanding of lighting design principles and metal parts engineering.
• Hands-on experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping.
• Knowledge of lighting standards and testing (BS-EN 60598, UL, CE).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Product Design Engineer - Lighting Salary & Benefits

• Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.30pm, Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm
• Competitive salary likely between £40,000-£45,000 (negotiable)
