Role & Responsibilities:

The role is to work with the mechanical engineering design team to support the development of plastic elements within the disposable set and on the retained unit of both products. The post holder will contribute to the creation of specifications for parts and assemblies through the process including testing, analysis and risk evaluation, etc. The post holder will be required to work closely with suppliers and internal operations team to ensure the products are fit for manufacture. Deliverables include the generation of 3D CAD data, 2D drawings, Engineering BOMs, assembly instructions and initial support of the FMEA to implement appropriate risk controls.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Experience in the product development of complex plastic components.
• Experience in enclosure design for the packaging of electronics.
• Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes (injection moulding, RIM moulding, vacuum forming, ultrasonic welding)
• Willingness to be hands on, building prototypes in the workshop
• Proficiency in CAD software including surface modelling (preferably Solidworks and PDM).
• Ability to produce Technical Reports to a high standard both in terms of technical content, presentation and written English.
• Enthusiasm, good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to work effectively with outside suppliers and manufacturers.
